What is a Remote CS Core Network Engineer?

A Remote CS (Circuit Switched) Core Network Engineer is a telecommunications professional responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the core circuit-switched network infrastructure of telecom operators, typically from a remote location. They focus on services such as voice calls, SMS, and other legacy telecom services, ensuring the core network operates efficiently and reliably. This role often involves working with technologies like MSC, HLR, and MGW, and requires expertise in network protocols, security, and system optimization. Remote CS Core Network Engineers collaborate with onsite teams and use secure connections to manage network elements without being physically present at the site. Their work is critical to maintaining high service availability and quality for end-users.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote CS Core Network Engineer?

To thrive as a Remote CS Core Network Engineer, you need in-depth knowledge of telecommunications networks, particularly circuit-switched core networks, along with a relevant degree in engineering or computer science. Familiarity with network management tools, protocols like SS7 and SIP, and certifications such as CCNA or similar are typically required. Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and effective communication are vital soft skills for remote collaboration and troubleshooting. These competencies ensure reliable network performance, rapid issue resolution, and seamless teamwork across geographically dispersed teams.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote CS Core Network Engineers and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote CS Core Network Engineers often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting complex network issues without on-site access, coordinating with geographically dispersed teams, and ensuring secure remote access to sensitive core infrastructure. Effective management of these challenges involves leveraging robust remote monitoring and diagnostic tools, maintaining clear and regular communication with both local and international team members, and following strict security protocols for remote access. Proactively documenting issues and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams also helps in resolving problems efficiently and minimizing downtime.

Senior Solutions Engineer, AppSec (Remote - US)

Lavendo

Job description

Lavendo partners with startups and highโ€‘growth companies to help them hire topโ€‘tier sales, GTM, and technical talent. This role is with one of our clients; we'll share full details about the company and interview process as we get to know you and confirm mutual fit.
About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing, well-funded leader in application security - built for engineering and security teams who refuse to choose between shipping fast and shipping safe. Backed by $100M+ in funding from top-tier VCs (including a recent Series D), they've built a platform that top engineering orgs actually want to use. At ~200 people, you're joining a team small enough that your work is visible and large enough that the infrastructure, process, and momentum are already in place.
The Mission
To make it expensive to exploit software. That's it. Everything the team builds - a fast, customizable static analysis engine plus dependency and secrets scanning - exists to help engineers find and fix vulnerabilities before they ship, without adding friction to the workflows they already live in.
The Opportunity
This is a Solutions Engineering seat for someone who'd rather read code than run a script. You'll own the technical side of the sales cycle for mid-market deals across a defined US territory, partnering closely with an AE. If you've ever felt boxed in as a "demo jockey" in a pre-sales role, this is built differently: the team describes their own culture as having "a big 'E' in engineering and a small 's' in sales" - high-caliber, low-ego, and led by people who take the technical side seriously.
What You'll Do
  • Become the go-to expert on the platform and integrate it into customers' CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, and AppSec programs
  • Run technical discovery, diagnose real problems, and design solutions - not just pitch features
  • Own Proof-of-Value cycles start to finish: defining success criteria, configuring environments, and delivering a technical win the customer can point to
  • Write and adapt rules to detect vulnerabilities, proving product mastery in the process
  • Translate technical differentiation for security engineers, DevOps teams, and executives (CISOs, VPs of Engineering) alike
  • Remove friction from the sales motion by sharpening demos, automation, and enablement content
  • Partner with your AE as a true technical co-owner of the deal
  • Help build the playbook - contribute to process and best practices as the SE team scales

What You Bring
  • 2-5 years in a pre-sales engineering role within enterprise SaaS, ideally with complex technical products - security space experience is a strong plus
  • A track record selling complex technical products into large organizations (AppSec, DevOps, CI/CD, monitoring, or similar developer tooling)
  • A real engineering foundation - CS degree or hands-on engineering experience (the stack itself doesn't matter)
  • Fluency in developer workflows and build systems, including CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab, CircleCI, Jenkins, and Buildkite
  • The range to speak credibly with a security engineer in the morning and a CISO in the afternoon
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer meetings, events, and company gatherings
  • Currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis; sponsorship is not available for this role

Key Success Drivers
  • You've actually done the work. You've integrated security tooling into a real CI/CD pipeline and written detection rules - not just talked about cloud security in the abstract.
  • You're code-fluent. You can read code, reason about a vulnerability, and hold a technical line under questioning.
  • You think like an owner. You partner with your AE as a peer, not an order-taker, and care about the customer's technical outcome as much as the close.
  • You bring substance over showmanship. You'll fit right in with a team that values technical depth and doesn't reward flash for its own sake.
  • You're genuinely into this mission. Security and developer experience aren't just a job category for you - you can speak to why it matters.

Why Join?
  • A product worth standing behind: a category-defining AppSec platform that top engineering teams trust and actually enjoy using
  • Real earning upside: base $147K-$175K, OTE $210K-$250K uncapped (70/30 split)
  • A team built for engineers who sell, not salespeople who dabble in tech
  • Fully remote (US) with a defined territory and real influence over how the SE function scales from here

Interviewing Process
  • Recruiter Interview
  • Hiring Manager Interview
  • Technical Demonstration
  • Virtual Onsite
  • Final Interview
