Job description

Why LeoLabs?

At LeoLabs, we're building the living map of activity in space. Through our proprietary global radar network and AI-enabled analytics platform, we collect millions of measurements daily on more than 25,000 objects in low Earth orbit (LEO). Our radar-powered intelligence protects billions in assets, monitors adversarial behavior, and ensures safe operations for commercial and government missions.

We're not just building technology, we are redefining global security, safety, and transparency in space. As orbital activity accelerates and threats grow more complex, LeoLabs is a trusted partner for Space Domain Awareness, Space Traffic Management, and Satellite Operations for top-tier space operators and allied defense organizations.

If you're looking to work on mission-critical challenges at the forefront of aerospace, national security, and AI, your impact starts here.

LeoLabs is seeking a Senior Radar Software Engineer to develop, integrate, and optimize software systems supporting advanced radar operations and space domain awareness missions. This role will work closely with radar systems engineers, signal processing engineers, data scientists, and software developers to deliver high-performance radar capabilities that support mission-critical customer requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience developing software for radar, sensor, defense, aerospace, or real-time data processing systems and enjoys solving complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.

  • Develop interfaces and services supporting sensor operations, telemetry, data management, and mission execution.
  • Develop scalable and reliable software solutions for radar control, monitoring, automation, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with radar systems, signal processing, infrastructure, and operations teams to integrate new capabilities into operational environments.
  • Support software architecture development and technical design reviews.
  • Participate in system integration, verification, validation, and field testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and support root-cause analysis for software and system anomalies.
  • Contribute to software development best practices, code reviews, and technical documentation.
  • Support customer demonstrations, technical briefings, and operational readiness activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong programming experience in Python, C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience designing and developing distributed systems, APIs, and data-intensive applications.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments.
  • Familiarity with software testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Personnel Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with radar systems, RF systems, signal processing, or sensor data processing applications.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or Space Force programs.
  • Experience working with bare-metal systems
  • Familiarity working in constrained compute environments
  • Experience working with large-scale telemetry, tracking, or real-time data processing systems.
  • Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Experience supporting classified programs and secure computing environments.
