It allows for flexibility in scheduling while monetizing crochet skills.

What are some typical challenges faced by remote crochet professionals working from home?

Remote crochet professionals often face challenges such as managing multiple client orders at once, keeping up with tight deadlines, and ensuring clear communication without in-person feedback. Working from home requires a high level of self-motivation and organization to balance creative tasks with administrative duties like invoicing, marketing, or shipping finished pieces. Additionally, sourcing quality materials and photographing work for online sales or custom requests are common aspects of the role. Building a steady stream of clients and maintaining consistent quality across projects can also be challenging. However, these experiences can help you develop valuable business and craft skills while enjoying the flexibility that remote work provides.

Job description

At Local Crafts, we're the creative force behind some of the most beloved names in crafting: Connecting Threads, Superior Threads, Knit Picks, Crochet.com, and Berroco. From our own workshops to trusted partners around the globe, we design and curate the products makers reach for every day, the fabrics, threads, yarns, and tools that turn ideas into finished pieces.

We're building a newly created Senior Director of Finance role to lead financial planning and analysis across our private equity backed, multi brand portfolio. Reporting directly to our CFO, you'll own the numbers behind our biggest decisions, from board reporting to brand level performance to long range planning. This is a chance to shape how a growing multi brand company thinks about its financial future, working closely with our executive team and PE sponsor.

What You'll Do

  • Own the company's budgeting, forecasting, and long range planning processes across all brands
  • Partner directly with the CEO and executive team on strategic and capital allocation decisions
  • Lead board and PE sponsor reporting, including financial packages, KPI dashboards, and quarterly board materials
  • Build and maintain financial models supporting brand level investment decisions, M&A activity, and scenario planning
  • Drive corporate strategy initiatives, including market analysis, competitive positioning, and growth opportunity assessment
  • Establish consistent KPI frameworks and reporting cadences across a multi brand portfolio
  • Partner cross functionally with brand and functional leaders on P&L management and cost optimization
  • Build and mentor a high performing FP&A function as the team grows

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or strategy, including senior leadership experience
  • A proven track record building financial models and presenting to boards or senior executives
  • Experience partnering directly with C-suite executives
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data for non financial audiences

You'll Thrive Here If

  • You've built financial infrastructure at a private equity backed company and know how PE sponsors like to see their numbers
  • You hold an MBA and enjoy pairing that strategic lens with hands on modeling work
  • You're comfortable in NetSuite and Power BI, or pick up new financial systems quickly
  • You like building something from scratch as much as running what's already there
  • You can flex between a board level story and the underlying spreadsheet without losing either

Additional Information

  • This is a fully remote role reporting directly to the CFO.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and parental leave
  • Employee discounts across all Local Crafts brands: Connecting Threads, Superior Threads, Knit Picks, Crochet.com, and Berroco
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Local Crafts is unable to sponsor employment visas for this position.
