This role is primarily remote, leveraging technology to facilitate counseling sessions with clients in crisis. • Conduct thorough crisis assessments and interventions effectively for clients experiencing acute mental health emergencies, utilizing established protocols and your clinical judgment.
• Provide immediate counseling and support to individuals in distress, ensuring they receive the compassion and guidance necessary for their situations.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency response teams when necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of clients during crisis scenarios.
• Facilitate follow-up care, including the development of personalized crisis intervention plans tailored to individual needs, and recommend additional resources or referrals as required.
• Employ de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to navigate complex and often volatile client situations, aiming to stabilize and support the individual.
• Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your crisis counseling skills and stay current on best practices within the mental health field.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Samaritan Behavioral Health, you will be engaging primarily with individuals facing significant mental health challenges, including addiction issues and emotional crises. Our clients often come to us in urgent need of crisis intervention, whether due to trauma, suicidal ideation, or debilitating anxiety and depression. You will be expected to understand and be sensitive to the diverse cultural backgrounds of clients, employing empathy and respect in all interactions.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Possession of a current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in crisis intervention and mental health counseling, with a focus on addiction therapy.
• Expertise in evidence-based techniques for crisis intervention, including the ability to rapidly assess and address client needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish trusting therapeutic relationships with clients in distress.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and an empathetic approach in counseling practices.

• Additional training or specialization in crisis counseling, trauma-informed care, or substance abuse treatment is highly regarded.
• Experience in providing remote counseling services and familiarity with telehealth technologies.
• Proficient knowledge of ethical, legal, and regulatory standards that govern mental health practices.
