What is remote creative writing?

Remote creative writing refers to the practice of producing original written content, such as stories, poems, or scripts, from a location outside of a traditional office—often from home or any place with internet access. Creative writers use their imagination and language skills to craft engaging narratives or expressive works, collaborating with clients or publishers online. This flexible work arrangement allows writers to manage their schedules and work with organizations or clients globally. Remote creative writing can include freelance projects, content creation, and contributions to books, magazines, or websites.

How do remote creative writers typically collaborate with editors and other team members while working from home?

Remote creative writers often use collaboration tools like Slack, Google Docs, or project management platforms to stay connected with editors and team members. Regular check-ins, virtual meetings, and shared documents help ensure clear communication regarding project goals, deadlines, and feedback. Writers may also participate in brainstorming sessions or peer reviews online, which fosters a sense of teamwork even when working independently. Adapting to different communication styles and being proactive in seeking feedback are key to thriving in a remote creative writing role.

  • Create and edit marketing copy for campaigns, landing pages, emails, product messaging, and other customer-facing materials.

  • Collaborate with SEO, creative, and compliance stakeholders to ensure content is accurate, on-brand, and meets legal and brand guidelines.

Job description

At Gabb, we're on a mission to bring back the magic of childhood.

Think outdoor adventures and real connections! We create safe tech that lets kids be kids, even in a digital world. Why? Because families deserve to stay connected without sacrificing safety. Our team is full of optimistic folks who love a good challenge (and having fun!). Join us as we champion a fearless approach to safe tech and help build a brighter future for families everywhere. ✨

Gabb gives families a better choice for their kids’ first technology. Our product portfolio spans purpose-built hardware — Gabb Phones and Gabb Watches — alongside digital services including Gabb Music and Music+. Everything we build is designed to let families introduce technology in steps, giving kids connection without the harms of a fully open smartphone. We’re a fast-growing, mission-driven company headquartered in Lehi, Utah, with a team that genuinely loves what we do and why we do it.

About the Role

Gabb is hiring a Content Writer to create parent-focused educational content and support marketing copy across the brand. You will help parents understand the fast-changing world of kids, technology, online safety, digital communication, AI, screen time, and other topics that matter to families.

This is a blog content and marketing writing role. 50% of the work will support blog articles, content updates, educational resources, and publishing workflows. 50% will support marketing copy for campaigns, landing pages, emails, video scripts, product messaging, and creative requests.

You will work closely with the SEO Strategist, who will provide content direction, keyword priorities, and optimization guidance when needed. Your primary responsibility will be strong writing, editing, research, revision, and execution. This is a role for a clear writer, strong editor, and thoughtful content creator who can turn complex or sensitive topics into helpful, parent-friendly content. You will write in a brand voice that is educational, empowering, and trustworthy while staying aligned with brand, FTC, and compliance guidelines

What You’ll Do

Blog, Educational Content & Publishing

  • Write, revise, and update blog articles that help parents navigate kids’ tech, online safety, digital communication, slang, social media, AI, screen time, and related parenting topics. Handle sensitive topics responsibly, clearly.

  • Create clear, parent-friendly content based on assigned topics, briefs, research, and content priorities.

  • Use AI writing tools thoughtfully to support drafting, outlining, brainstorming, research organization, and revision workflows while maintaining human judgment, accuracy, originality, and brand voice.

  • Partner with the SEO Strategist on keyword-informed articles, content refreshes, and optimization recommendations without owning overall SEO strategy.

  • Conduct supporting research to improve article accuracy, context, credibility, and usefulness. Review and revise existing blog content for clarity, relevance, tone, structure, accuracy, and brand alignment.

  • Support blog workflows, including updating Google Docs, preparing content for WordPress, uploading content, and publishing when needed.

  • Collaborate with design, motion, and creative teams on blog-related graphics, videos, content extensions, and supporting assets. Repurpose blog content into formats such as email, video scripts, social content, newsletters, or campaign copy.

Marketing Copy & Campaign Support

  • Write and revise marketing copy for ads, evergreen campaigns, promotional campaigns, product launches, landing pages, product pages, app content, storefront updates, packaging inserts, stickers, banners, and other customer-facing materials.

  • Draft and review email copy, nurture flows, onboarding emails, app newsletters, and lifecycle messaging

  • Use AI tools to improve speed, variation, and ideation for marketing copy while ensuring all final copy is accurate, on-brand, audience-appropriate, and human reviewed.

  • Write video scripts, short-form copy, campaign headlines, body copy, CTAs, and supporting messaging for creative assets.

  • Adapt messaging for different audiences, channels, and funnel stages while keeping the brand voice consistent.

  • Partner with creative, growth, lifecycle, product, and compliance stakeholders to ensure copy is clear, accurate, on-brand, and ready for launch. Participate in copy reviews, revisions, approvals, and final quality checks.

Brand & FTC Compliance

  • Write and revise content with attention to FTC, legal, and brand-compliance requirements.Ensure claims are clear, accurate, supportable, and not overstated.

  • Flag copy that may need compliance, product, or stakeholder review before publication.

  • Use AI responsibly and in accordance with company guidelines, including reviewing AI-assisted content for accuracy, originality, privacy, tone, sourcing, claims, and compliance before it is shared or published.

  • Help ensure disclaimers, qualifications, and important details are included where needed.

  • Maintain a responsible tone when writing about children, online safety, mental health, explicit content, parental controls, technology risks, and other sensitive topics. Incorporate compliance feedback while preserving clarity and readability.

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Skills

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Experience writing blog content, educational content, long-form digital content, or parent-facing resources.

  • Ability to research unfamiliar topics and translate them into clear, useful content.

  • Experience writing short-form marketing copy such as ads, emails, landing pages, headlines, CTAs, or campaign messaging.

  • Ability to work from content briefs, stakeholder direction, and keyword-informed recommendations.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow brand, legal, FTC, and compliance guidelines.

  • Ability to manage multiple writing assignments, revisions, approvals, and deadlines at once.

  • Comfortable collaborating with designers, marketers, content strategists, product teams, legal reviewers, and compliance stakeholders.

  • Experience working in Google Docs, WordPress or another CMS, and project management tools such as Asana.

Who You Are

  • A clear communicator — you make complex topics easier for parents to understand.

  • A careful researcher — you know how to add context, accuracy, and credibility without overwhelming the reader.

  • A brand-minded writer — you can move between educational content and marketing copy while keeping the voice consistent.

  • Compliance-aware — you understand that claims, disclosures, sensitive topics, and product language need care.

  • A strong collaborator — you can work with SEO, creative, growth, product, lifecycle, legal, and compliance partners.

  • Detail-oriented — you care about clean copy, clear structure, and final polish.

Genuinely interested in Gabb’s mission and the family technology space.

While we value talent from everywhere, we are currently limited to hiring employees who reside in Utah. We appreciate your understanding.
