• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations to assess client needs and issues, documenting each case meticulously from initial consultation to treatment completion.
• Develop tailored treatment plans incorporating evidence-based approaches for individuals, couples, families, and groups, ensuring therapeutic goals are aligned with each client’s unique circumstances.
• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing creative techniques to encourage participation and foster a supportive environment.
• Monitor client progress through regular check-ins and assessments, adjusting treatment plans as needed to reflect changes in client status or goals.
• Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers, to create comprehensive intervention strategies.
• Maintain ongoing communication with referring physicians and psychiatrists regarding hospitalized clients, ensuring a continuum of care that supports recovery.
• Identify potential barriers to recovery and employ proactive strategies to address them, engaging family members and caregivers in the treatment process as appropriate.

The counselor will provide care to a diverse clientele, including individuals experiencing various mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Our clients range from children and adolescents to adults and elders, each requiring tailored approaches that recognize their unique backgrounds and experiences. It is crucial for counselors to be adaptable and culturally competent, offering services that align with the values and needs of the communities we serve.

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois.
• A successful score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Demonstrated experience as a mental health counselor with proficiency in therapeutic techniques and interventions.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR or similar platforms, to manage client records and treatment plans.
• Comprehensive understanding of mental health conditions, physical health influences, and addiction issues, along with their intertwined impacts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to connect with clients and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to empathy and patient advocacy.

• Experience working within community health settings or integrated care models.
• Familiarity with the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and standards.
• In-depth knowledge of psychotropic medications and their side effects as prescribed by medical professionals.
• Engagement in continuing education opportunities relevant to mental health practices.
