JOB DESCRIPTION
The Marketing Communications Writer III develops communication strategies and compelling content that advance Demco's brand and business objectives. This role serves as a lead writer and steward of Demco's brand voice across marketing, product, corporate, and internal communications. Working closely with campaign managers, designers, and business leaders, this position translates complex information into clear, engaging messaging and content across digital and print channels.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and editor with strong strategic judgment, excellent project management skills, and the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and channels. This person is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and demonstrates a commitment to Demco's core values.
This is a remote position with a preference for candidates based in Madison, WI who can come onsite for key meetings, but open to candidates in the Central time zone.
Communications Strategy & Content
  • Develop communication strategies, messaging frameworks, and content approaches that translate business and marketing objectives into clear, compelling communications for target audiences.
  • Write marketing and corporate communications at an expert level across long- and short-form formats, including presentations, social media, product copy, sales collateral, digital advertising, customer testimonials, and other content as assigned.
  • Collaborate with marketing managers, designers, and internal stakeholders to research, develop, write, and execute relevant, engaging content while maintaining brand consistency across digital and print channels.
  • Edit and review content created by others within the marketing team, providing guidance to strengthen messaging, voice, clarity, and quality.
  • Apply SEO and content optimization best practices to web product descriptions, blog content, and other digital content to improve visibility and search performance.
  • Develop and execute A/B and multivariate testing strategies for marketing copy, using results to refine messaging, improve audience engagement, and maximize campaign performance.
  • Track and analyze content and campaign performance metrics, translate data into actionable insights, and continuously optimize copy and messaging against defined marketing and business objectives.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools to evaluate and optimize marketing copy for audience relevance, brand alignment, engagement, conversion, and other strategic objectives.

Project Management & Team Collaboration
  • Manage multiple communications projects and priorities, balancing timelines, stakeholder needs, and changing business demands.
  • Mentor and coach team members to strengthen writing and communications capabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of professional writing and communications experience; e-commerce and advertising experience highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled tools, performance insights, and testing to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing copy and optimize messaging against defined audience and business objectives.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a diverse portfolio or work samples spanning long- and short-form content, social media, creative marketing copy, product descriptions, and corporate communications.
  • Strong working knowledge of AP style and the ability to adapt voice, tone, and messaging for different audiences and channels.
  • Proven experience in content writing, marketing communications, communications strategy, or corporate communications.
  • Strong project management skills; experience with project management and/or proofing platforms preferred.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), marketing automation platforms, and digital content optimization practices.
  • Strong verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and organizational levels.
  • Analytical mindset with keen attention to detail and sound editorial judgment.
