About the Role

The On-Air and Digital Membership FM Producer collaborates with the Director of On-Air and Digital Membership and partners throughout the organization to shape strategy and lead the planning, creative development, production, execution, and evaluation of integrated FM membership campaigns for WHYY and its entities. The role is expected to continually reimagine how FM membership campaigns engage audiences. Creative approaches may include new campaign formats; live or prerecorded events and productions in communities throughout the region; distinctive messaging; contests and challenges; thank-you gifts; talent and audience participation; and digital extensions. The Producer coordinates resources across departments and through community relationships and ensures that campaign content accurately and compellingly reflects the substance of WHYY's programs and services. The position collaborates and coordinates FM drive production across WHYY's current and future stations, services, and other entities, adapting strategy and messaging to the audiences and communities each serves. The Producer also supports television membership production and other integrated fundraising initiatives.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with the Director of On-Air and Digital Membership and cross-functional partners to shape campaign strategy, goals, creative direction, and execution plans for FM membership campaigns across WHYY and its entities, including current and future stations and services. Demonstrate ongoing creativity by developing and testing ideas that reimagine FM membership campaigns, including live or taped regional events, remote productions, campaign formats, messaging, contests, challenges, thank-you gifts, talent participation, and digital extensions. Develop the end-to-end campaign roadmap, including schedules, daily fundraising and donor goals, budgets, messaging, talent, challenges, thank-you gifts, digital support, regional activity, production elements, and contingency plans. Build effective working relationships with departments throughout the organization and coordinate the resources, schedules, approvals, and deliverables required to produce an integrated campaign. Build connections and relationships with community partners to elevate FM drive reach, in terms of talent, premiums, contests, altruistic opportunities, shared promotion and beyond. Partner with programming, editorial, content, audience, and service teams to understand WHYY's programs and services and translate their substance and public value into accurate, audience-centered fundraising messages. Recruit, schedule, train, coach, and support a diverse group of on-air hosts, producers, volunteers, community participants, and other campaign talent. Write and edit scripts, talking points, challenge language, promotional copy, thank-you messages, and other campaign materials, maintaining a consistent case for support across platforms. Produce live and prerecorded membership breaks and related audio or video content; lead rehearsals; and oversee production in studios, remote locations, and community venues. Coordinate technical crews, studio and field operations, run-of-show documents, source codes, traffic instructions, digital assets, and other operational requirements for reliable campaign execution. Integrate supporting activity across email, web, social media, text, push notifications, streaming, and other digital platforms in coordination with the Digital Membership team and organizational partners. Coordinate major-gift and sponsor-supported campaign elements, including challenges and produced segments, so that timing, messaging, recognition, and on-air execution are effective and accurate. Monitor campaign performance daily, communicate results to stakeholders, identify opportunities or risks, and recommend real-time adjustments to goals, messaging, talent, scheduling, and tactics. Complete post-campaign analysis, including results against goals, audience and donor response, performance of creative elements, operational lessons, and recommendations for future testing and improvement. Develop repeatable production practices and coordinate shared resources for FM drives across WHYY and its entities while preserving local relevance, distinct audience needs, and appropriate station or service identity. Support television membership drives and other integrated membership campaigns through production planning, content development, recording and editing, live production, and related assignments. Maintain a regular and predictable attendance, including availability for early-morning, evening, and weekend work during campaigns and productions. Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in communications, broadcast journalism, media production, marketing, fundraising, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience: Three to five years of experience in live or recorded media production, campaign production, fundraising communications, project management, or a related field. Experience producing live radio or television, working with on-air talent and technical crews, and coordinating complex cross-departmental projects is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with broadcast or multimedia production workflows, project planning, script development, and campaign reporting. Audio or video recording and editing experience is preferred. Familiarity with digital campaign channels, spreadsheets, presentation tools, donor or CRM systems, and performance dashboards is beneficial.
