What is a remote creative technologist?

A Remote Creative Technologist is a professional who blends creativity with technology to develop innovative digital solutions while working from a remote location. They often collaborate with designers, developers, and marketers to create interactive experiences, prototypes, or tools for digital campaigns and products. These technologists use their expertise in coding, design, and emerging technologies to bring creative ideas to life, all without needing to be physically present in an office. Their work environment allows flexibility in location, promoting a balance between collaboration and independent work.

How does a remote creative technologist typically collaborate with design and development teams?

As a Remote Creative Technologist, you'll frequently act as a bridge between creative and technical teams, collaborating closely with designers to prototype interactive concepts and with developers to ensure feasible implementation. Communication is often facilitated through regular virtual meetings, collaborative documentation, and shared digital workspaces. Effective collaboration relies on clear articulation of ideas, openness to feedback, and proactive engagement in brainstorming sessions. You'll also be expected to stay adaptable, as project requirements and team dynamics may shift due to the remote nature of the work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote creative technologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Creative Technologist, you need expertise in digital design, coding (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and a strong understanding of interactive media, often supported by a degree in design, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with creative software like Adobe Creative Suite, prototyping tools, and web development frameworks is typically required. Exceptional problem-solving, self-motivation, and communication skills help you collaborate effectively across remote teams and bridge creative and technical ideas. These abilities are vital to develop innovative digital experiences and ensure smooth project execution in a distributed work environment.

Senior Creative Operations Manager (Temp-to-Hire)

Armada

Los Angeles, CA • On-site, Remote

$114K - $143K/yr

Full-time, Contractor, Temporary

Posted 21 days ago

Job description

About the Role

Armada is doing things nobody has done before, and successfully telling our story takes a team. As Creative Operations Manager, you are the operational force who keeps that team moving.

Day to day, you're making sure all creative projects stay on track both externally and internally. Milestones, creative development, and vendor/contractor relationships are the gears you keep turning. When we're in production, you shift into a more traditional producing role: assisting with pre-production, building budgets, and running the logistics that keep a shoot on schedule.

You don't need to be an artist yourself, but you do need to have excellent taste. Key to this role is the ability to recognize great talent when hiring contractors and to know when the last round of notes has (or has not) met the mark. You are a critical filter helping to ensure that the Armada brand stays premium.

Ideally you're based in Los Angeles, so you can travel with the Creative Director and support with production gear and on-the-ground logistics.

Please note that this role is a temp-to-hire position. Strong performers will be considered for full-time placement at the end of the contract period. This role is eligible for overtime.

Location:  Los Angeles, CA (Remote)

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Own project management for all internal and external creative projects: set timelines, track status, flag risks, and keep every workstream moving
  • Source, vet, and manage creative contractors and vendors: photographers, editors, motion designers, illustrators, print production houses, and equipment suppliers
  • Produce shoots end-to-end: pre-production planning, budgeting, gear rentals, travel and lodging, on-set logistics, and post-production coordination
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support shoots, events, and field productions
  • Manage Armada's merch program: vendor relationships, design approvals, quality control, order fulfillment, and ongoing inventory
  • Help scope new creative endeavors: research vendors, methods, and costs to take ideas from zero to one

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in production, creative operations, or a hybrid producer/project manager role
  • Proven ability to run multiple complex projects at once. You hold every commitment, deadline, and detail in your head, and you build systems so you don't have to
  • Experience sourcing, hiring, and managing creative contractors and vendors, with a sharp eye for recognizing creative talent
  • Comfort building and managing budgets and tracking spend against them
  • Hands-on AV knowledge. You can spec a camera package, walk through an audio chain, and understand the gear that goes into a single or multi-camera shoot
  • Sharp soft skills. You can manage difficult vendor conversations and stay calm on set when something goes wrong
  • Open to travel on short notice, including international and to remote locations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Based in Los Angeles, with the ability to travel with the Creative Director on shoots and assist with gear and on-the-ground production
  • Experience at a technology company or startup, ideally in a fast-paced environment with limited existing infrastructure
  • Background in commercial, brand, or editorial production
  • Comfort working directly with C-level or founder-level creative leadership
  • Knowledge of the merch and apparel space, from design approval through fulfillment
