Remote Cpap Set Up information

What is the difference between Remote Cpap Set Up vs Cpap Technician?

AspectRemote Cpap Set UpCpap Technician
CredentialsCertification in sleep therapy or medical device trainingCPAP certification, technical training
Work EnvironmentRemote, patient consultations via telehealthIn-person, clinical or home visits
Employer & IndustryMedical device companies, sleep clinics, telehealth providersSleep clinics, medical equipment suppliers

Remote Cpap Set Up specialists primarily assist patients remotely with device setup and troubleshooting, often via telehealth. Cpap Technicians typically perform in-person device fittings, maintenance, and repairs. While both roles require similar certifications, Remote Cpap Set Up focuses on remote support, whereas Cpap Technicians are more hands-on in clinical settings.

What is a remote CPAP set up?

A Remote CPAP Set Up is a service where a sleep specialist or respiratory therapist guides patients through the process of setting up their Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine from a distance, often via video calls or phone. This approach allows patients to receive personalized instruction, troubleshooting, and support without needing to visit a clinic in person. Remote setups have become increasingly popular for convenience and safety, especially for individuals with mobility issues or those living in remote areas. The process typically includes device education, mask fitting, and usage guidance to ensure the patient is comfortable and confident using their CPAP equipment at home.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote CPAP set up specialist?

To thrive as a Remote CPAP Set Up Specialist, you need a solid understanding of respiratory therapy, medical equipment protocols, and typically a certification or background in respiratory care or sleep technology. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, CPAP devices, and electronic documentation systems is essential. Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills help you guide patients remotely and address their concerns. These abilities ensure patients receive effective education, compliance support, and safe use of their CPAP therapy at home.

What are some common challenges faced when setting up CPAP devices remotely, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in remote CPAP setup is ensuring that patients understand how to operate and maintain their devices without in-person demonstrations. To address this, clear communication, step-by-step virtual instructions, and thorough follow-up support are essential. Another challenge is troubleshooting technical or connectivity issues, which requires patience and strong problem-solving skills. Building rapport with patients remotely helps foster trust, making them more comfortable asking questions and adhering to their therapy.

Job description

Remote Care Coordinator

Location: Remote

Join our mission to help transform healthcare delivery from reactive, episodic care to proactively managed patient care that prevents live-changing problems before they happen for patients with two or more chronic conditions. We believe every patient with chronic disease deserves consistent check-ins, follow-up, and support.

The position of the Remote Care Coordinator will perform telephonic encounters with patients on behalf of our practice partners each month. This is a 1099 Contractor position and Contractor will be responsible for their own taxes.

Part-time team members will typically need to dedicate an average of 20-30 hours per week to care for their assigned patients initially. This time commitment will increase as the patient assignment increases. This unique business model allows you to choose what days and what hours of the day you dedicate to care for your patients.

Care Coordinators will be expected to complete due diligence measures on 100% of assigned patients and billable encounters on 90 percent of the patients they are assigned each month unless patients are unable to participate due to current health conditions.

Compensation Structure

Esrun Health utilizes a productivity-based pay structure:

$ 8.50 100-149 encounters/month

$ 9.00 150-199 encounters/month,

$10.00 200-249 encounters/month

$11.00 >250 encounters/month.

Payment tier increases require 3 months consistency to achieve.

There is a $1/encounter incentive compensation for bilingual contractors equal to $3/hr but is only applied if hired into a bilingual position.

  • Monthly outreach will consist of cumulative time to include chart review, contact attempts (calls/texts/emails), actual call time, care coordination, and documentation/billing.
  • This time is billed out in 20-minute units of service referred to as "encounters" and each patient can be billed for up to three units of service or "encounters" each month.
  • 20-39m=1 encounter, 40-59m=2 encounters, >60m=3 encounters

EXAMPLE:
