Who Are We Looking For? (Requirements)
  • Active license to practice law in New Mexico, or eligibility for admission.
  • Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills, with the ability to translate research into persuasive, well-supported drafts.
  • Experience drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents.
  • Personal injury or civil litigation experience preferred; insurance defense or appellate background is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with trial attorneys and Team Leads across multiple case teams and manage competing deadlines.

Your Role
As a Research & Writing Attorney, you will provide the legal analysis and drafting that support our trial attorneys' mission: maximizing recovery for the value of our clients' harm and the wrong that caused it. You will be a key member of a team dedicated to making a meaningful impact for injured clients across New Mexico.
Duties / Responsibilities
Legal Research:
  • Research New Mexico and applicable law on liability, damages, coverage, and procedural issues arising in personal injury and premises liability matters.
  • Monitor and summarize developments in New Mexico case law, statutes, and court rules relevant to the firm's practice.

Drafting:
  • Prepare motions, responses, briefs, and legal memoranda in support of pre-litigation and litigation case teams.
  • Draft discovery-related legal analysis and assist with pleadings as needed.

Case Strategy Support:
  • Collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads to identify legal issues, anticipate defense arguments, and strengthen case positions.
  • Provide research support for settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation.

General Responsibilities:
  • Deliver timely, well-supported written work product that meets firm quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff to ensure cases move efficiently through the process.
