POSITION SUMMARY:

Focus Interpreting is seeking a dedicated and qualified Pashto Interpreter to join our remote interpretation team. The interpreter will provide accurate and professional interpretation services between Pashto and English through Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) and telephone interpreting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide professional Pashto-English interpretation services remotely via VRI and telephone.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication in a variety of settings, including medical, legal, educational, government, and social services.
  • Accurately interpret spoken communication from Pashto into English and from English into Pashto in real time.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and interpretation standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, impartiality, cultural sensitivity, accuracy, and attention to detail during all interpretation sessions.
  • Provide interpretation for legal proceedings, hearings, conferences, and other formal settings as assigned.
  • Stay informed about relevant terminology and developments in the Pashto language to ensure high-quality interpretation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in Pashto and English.
  • Must be based in the United States.
  • Certification, training, or qualifications in interpretation preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and experience with legal interpretation preferred.
  • Experience interpreting for court hearings, case hearings, conferences, or similar legal proceedings.
  • Prior experience with VRI and/or telephone interpretation preferred.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
