Job description

Carlisle Companies is seeking a Counsel - Operations to support our Corporate office in Scottsdale, AZ. This person will serve as legal advisor for the two business divisions within the company. This role partners closely with division leadership and division general counsels to align legal strategy with business objectives, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Counsel will provide broad legal support, including commercial transactions, compliance, product development, Intellectual property, and operational issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Division Legal Support

  • Act as the legal advisor to division leadership and division general counsels, providing strategic guidance on legal, regulatory, and business matters.
  • Provide legal counsel on commercial contracts, supply chain, product liability, intellectual property matters, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with internal departments such as compliance, human resources, finance, and operations to ensure integrated legal support.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure division compliance with relevant industry regulations, company policies, and legal requirements.
  • Support implementation of corporate compliance programs within the division and advise on investigations and internal audits.

Leadership & Management

  • Manage outside counsel, budgets, and legal resources efficiently to support business priorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in legal operations, knowledge management, and risk mitigation practices within the divisions.
  • Expectation to understand, participate in, and support company initiatives, with focus on developing a lean mindset.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of commercial legal issues relevant to division operations.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with business partners and senior leaders.

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
    • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience at a law firm or in-house
    • Broad legal knowledge with a strong background in commercial transactions, corporate law, and business counseling
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in a manufacturing regulated industry.
    • Familiarity with international legal issues, including global compliance and contract negotiation.
    • Demonstrated success supporting business leaders as a proactive, solutions-oriented legal advisor.

Working Conditions:

  • The position typically operates during standard business hours of Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm), with occasional flexibility required to accommodate meetings across time zones or critical business needs.
