Job description

About the Role
We are hiring a sharp, research-driven Product (R&D)/ Formulation Specialist to innovate new products and improve existing ones for our client's DTC skincare and cosmetics brands. You'll be the engine behind what goes into products, researching ingredients, identifying what's working in the market, and coordinating with suppliers to bring stronger, better formulations to life.
What You'll Do
  • Conduct deep market and ingredient research across Amazon, Instagram, beauty communities, and viral/organic products to identify what's working and why.
  • Determine which ingredients drive real results, and decide what to add, strengthen, reduce, or remove.
  • Reformulate and iteratively improve existing products, and innovate entirely new ones.
  • Coordinate directly with suppliers (including in China) via group chats to adjust formulations, add new ingredients, and drive execution, with strong, consistent follow-up.
  • Build a systemized, structured approach to ingredient research and formulation decisions.

Requirements
What You'll Bring
  • 2-3 years of experience in product formulation or R&D.
  • Experience improving existing skincare or cosmetics products.
  • A strong, foundational methodology for market and ingredient research that can be applied across niches.
  • Sharp decision-making on ingredient efficacy: what works, what's weak, and what's worth adding.
  • Comfort coordinating with international suppliers and following through on execution.
  • Cosmetics / skincare industry experience required, a rigorous research approach that translates across niches is what matters most.
  • Perfect command of English and clear verbal and written communication.
  • Educational background in cosmetic science, chemistry, or biochemistry is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Western culture is a plus.
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers, including coordinating with Chinese suppliers and managing formulation changes through ongoing cross-border communication, is a plus.
Non-Negotiables
  • Relentless follow-up with suppliers and internal teams until the product is exactly right.

Benefits
  • Performance bonus, ranging based on experience and output.
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate your schedule and maximize productivity.
  • Fully remote setup.
