Job Title: Corporate Controller
Location: Lakeland, Florida
Schedule: 10-hour workdays | Full-Time | On-site

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Corporate Controller to lead our accounting operations and drive financial excellence across the organization. This position plays a critical leadership role, overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance, while also serving as a trusted advisor to the CFO and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will bring deep accounting expertise, strong operational leadership, and a forward-thinking approach to scaling finance in a growing company.

Key Responsibilities:Accounting Operations & Financial Oversight:
  • Lead, mentor, and grow the accounting team to meet increasing organizational complexity.

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.

  • Direct the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Manage internal and external reporting, including compliance with lender and regulatory requirements.

Policy, Compliance & Technical Accounting:
  • Develop and maintain a GAAP-compliant accounting infrastructure that supports business usability.

  • Serve as a technical accounting expert to the CFO and executive team, offering guidance on complex issues.

  • Monitor regulatory and accounting standard changes, ensuring compliance and timely implementation.

Internal Controls & Risk Management:
  • Design and implement internal control frameworks that safeguard financial accuracy and organizational assets.

  • Regularly evaluate and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure audit readiness.

Cross-Functional Partnership:
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, and sales teams to ensure alignment on monthly close, forecasting, and budgetary outcomes.

  • Support the CFO with strategic initiatives, including financial planning, cost control, and risk management.

External Relationships & Tax Oversight:
  • Manage relationships with auditors, banks, tax advisors, and other external partners.

  • Oversee tax compliance and coordinate with external firms on corporate tax matters.

Required Qualifications:Education & Certifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Required

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance – Preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, ideally within mid to large-sized organizations.

  • Strong operational experience across general ledger, payroll, AP/AR, and financial reporting.

  • Experience with GL and payroll system implementations — Sage Intacct and ADP strongly preferred.

  • Industry experience in cold storage, distribution, or logistics is a plus, but not required.

Leadership & Communication:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence without authority, and collaborate across departments.

  • Proven success as a strategic business partner with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
