Mesa seeks a Substation P&C Engineering Associate I to join our team. Ideal candidates for this position will have a BSEE (or equivalent) and be interested in learning protection and control design for medium and high voltage substations.  Upon selection, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn about modern microprocessor relay protection & control of medium & high voltage transmission lines, power transformers, power circuit breakers and other substation/switchyard equipment from more experienced mentors.  Candidate will also be given the opportunity to learn about modern SCADA and remote control systems of substation equipment as well as the latest fiberoptic communication systems used in protective relay coordination.  Learning will be closely coupled with using AutoCAD to complete protection & control designs for various utilities across the southern United States.  The selected candidate must possess a solid work ethic and be a self-starter; having a keen eye for details is also a requisite.  The ability to use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.) is definitely a plus.  All applicants for this position must have excellent communication skills and be able to thrive in a team-oriented work environment.

This position will requires the candidate to be located in or be willing to relocate to the greater Knoxville, TN area and be willing to commute to the Mesa Associates Knoxville office.  Hybrid work at this location will be an option once the candidate has become proficient in performing work duties.   Some overnight travel to utility customer stations located in the southeastern U.S. will be required and the candidate must be able to perform onsite inspections and attend meetings.  

It is highly preferred that all applicants have taken and passed the EIT/FE exam and are interested in pursuing PE licensure.
