Commercial Electrician - Service Technician

Oklahoma City, Ok

Colt is a well-established provider of electrical services, specializing in commercial properties such as office buildings, retail centers, schools, hospitals, and multi-tenant complexes. We are seeking a skilled and experienced commercial electrician to join our team, providing expert electrical installation, maintenance, and repair services in a variety of commercial environments.
Job Summary:

The Commercial Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial buildings. This includes wiring, lighting systems, electrical panels, and various electrical equipment. The role requires a thorough understanding of commercial electrical systems, local electrical codes, and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical diagrams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in commercial settings and be skilled at troubleshooting and resolving complex electrical issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including running new circuits, lighting, electrical panels, and other commercial electrical infrastructure.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics on commercial systems to identify problems and provide efficient solutions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to accurately complete electrical installations and repairs.
  • Install and maintain electrical systems such as power distribution units, lighting control systems, and backup power systems (generators, UPS).
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Inspect electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety and building regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance to troubleshoot breakers, outlets, and other items to restore proper operation.
  • Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to integrate electrical systems in compliance with project timelines and specifications.
  • Respond to emergency electrical issues, including power outages, system failures, and faulty wiring in commercial buildings.
  • Submit detailed work orders and reports for all completed jobs, including time estimates, materials used, and any follow-up required.
  • Install and maintain energy-efficient systems, including LED lighting, energy management systems, and motion sensors.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a commercial electrician, working on office buildings, retail spaces, hospitals, schools, or similar commercial environments.
  • Certifications: Additional certifications in areas such as low-voltage systems, fire alarm systems, or energy management systems are a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, including high-voltage wiring, breaker panels, switchgear, and lighting systems.
    • Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment, such as multimeters, ohmmeters, and oscilloscopes, to diagnose issues.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical schematics.
    • Familiarity with installing and maintaining commercial-grade equipment such as lighting control systems, electrical panels, and backup generators.
    • Knowledge of local electrical codes and safety standards (NEC and OSHA compliance).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work at heights (ladders, scaffolding), and in confined spaces.
  • Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for travel between job sites.
  • Availability: Must be available for on-call shifts and emergency electrical repairs, including occasional nights or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in office buildings, shopping centers, healthcare facilities, or large commercial projects.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient technologies and systems such as smart lighting and energy management systems.
