Remote Contract Reliability Engineer information

What are Remote Contract Reliability Engineers?

Remote Contract Reliability Engineers are professionals who work remotely, usually on a contract basis, to ensure that systems, equipment, or software operate reliably and efficiently. Their main focus is on analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements to enhance the dependability and performance of products or processes. They collaborate with teams virtually to identify potential failures, recommend solutions, and help organizations minimize downtime and maintenance costs. Their work spans various industries such as manufacturing, technology, and energy, and typically involves using specialized tools and methodologies to predict and prevent problems before they occur.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Contract Reliability Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Contract Reliability Engineer, you need a solid background in reliability engineering, failure analysis, and maintenance planning, often supported by a degree in engineering and relevant industry experience. Familiarity with reliability analysis software (like ReliaSoft), asset management systems, and certifications such as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) are typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and self-motivation skills are essential for effectively collaborating and delivering results in a remote, contract-based environment. These skills ensure the engineer can optimize system reliability, reduce downtime, and meet client expectations efficiently from a remote location.

How does a Remote Contract Reliability Engineer typically collaborate with on-site teams and stakeholders?

As a Remote Contract Reliability Engineer, you will frequently collaborate with on-site teams through virtual meetings, project management platforms, and real-time data sharing tools. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll provide recommendations, troubleshoot issues, and review maintenance or performance data remotely. You may also participate in regular status updates and coordinate with cross-functional teams—such as operations, maintenance, and safety—to implement reliability improvements and ensure asset uptime. Successful remote collaboration often relies on proactive communication and clear documentation of your analyses and recommendations.

What is the difference between Remote Contract Reliability Engineer vs Remote Contract Maintenance Technician?

Job description

Platform Engineer Opportunity At Meibel

Meibel is the platform to build, run & scale generative AI with confidence. At Meibel, we help organizations move from AI experimentation to AI in production — responsibly and at scale. Our platform supports explainable, traceable, and trustworthy AI by combining cutting-edge infrastructure with a deep commitment to transparency and control.

We're looking for a Platform Engineer to help architect and maintain the foundation that powers our product across cloud and on-premises environments. You'll work at the intersection of AI, DevOps, and distributed systems, enabling our engineering teams and customers to deploy confidently, scale effortlessly, and operate reliably.

What You'll Do

  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes environments in both cloud and on-premises settings
  • Build robust infrastructure-as-code using Pulumi to automate provisioning and configuration
  • Support and evolve our use of Argo Workflows and Argo CD for CI/CD and orchestration
  • Architect durable, scalable systems using Temporal for long-running workflows and background jobs
  • Manage and integrate various data systems — including graph, vector, and relational databases
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance across infrastructure layers
  • Partner with application engineers and ML teams to build highly available, secure, and observable systems
  • Contribute to internal tooling that streamlines development, deployment, and data workflows

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles
  • Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, especially in hybrid (cloud/on-prem) deployments
  • Proficiency with Pulumi (or strong experience with Terraform and interest in Pulumi)
  • Experience building with Argo (Workflows and CD) and managing GitOps-style deployments
  • Practical experience with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration engines
  • Familiarity with different classes of data systems:
  • Vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant)
  • Graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, TigerGraph)
  • Relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Strong infrastructure fundamentals — networking, security, observability, high availability
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization best practices

Bonus Points For

  • Experience supporting AI or ML pipelines in production environments
  • Understanding of compliance, multi-tenancy, and secure data access models
  • Contributions to open source or infrastructure-related communities
  • Interest in building internal platforms for developer productivity

Why Join Meibel?

As a Platform Engineer at Meibel, you'll have a direct impact on the reliability, scalability, and trustworthiness of AI systems used in high-stakes environments. We work on complex, meaningful problems and we value engineers who love to solve them.

  • Shape the infrastructure of a modern, explainable AI platform
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across AI, data, product, and ops
  • Work on real hybrid deployments with production-grade complexity
  • Join a mission-driven culture focused on innovation and responsibility
  • Flexible, remote-friendly work culture with a strong engineering foundation

If you're passionate about infrastructure and want to make AI more transparent and usable at scale, we'd love to meet you.

Apply now and help us build the systems that power responsible AI.
