Job description

The Senior Geophysical Project Manager (SGPM) serves in a dual-capacity role that combines advanced geophysical expertise with project leadership and portfolio management responsibilities. Operating with minimal supervision, the SGPM is responsible for the successful execution of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, contractual requirements, technical standards, and client expectations. As a senior member of the organization, the SGPM provides leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance while fostering collaboration among project teams, management, clients, subcontractors, and government stakeholders. The position typically consists of approximately 50% project management and 50% technical geophysical production, although the balance may vary based on project demands and business priorities.

The SGPM leads geophysical projects through all phases of execution, from initiation and planning through delivery and closeout. Responsibilities include managing project scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, quality, and client communications while coordinating multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams. The role requires oversight of project financial performance, including forecasting, variance analysis, resource planning, and implementation of corrective actions as needed to maintain project objectives. The SGPM routinely manages multiple task orders and projects within large government and commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and company procedures while delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

In addition to project leadership responsibilities, the SGPM performs and oversees technical geophysical work, including data processing, quality control, interpretation, technical reviews, and preparation of project deliverables. The role collaborates closely with technical leads and subject matter experts to develop practical, technically sound solutions that meet client and project requirements. Through effective communication, strategic decision-making, and strong stakeholder management, the SGPM maintains productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams while supporting business growth, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across the organization.
