Nexus Communications

Toronto, ON • Remote

Job description

How would you describe the Employee Experience? Key messages. Value props. Long and short copy. Headlines and subs. Social posts.

Some writers are great at all of it. Some specialize. Some can genuinely do it all. We're looking for you.

About the Role

Nexus is seeking talented content writers with talent and culture experience to work on a range of client projects. These are contract roles to work on selected client engagements. We may also be looking for talented writers for longer-term contracts, and possibly full time roles.

Working alongside our internal creative and account teams, you'll help our clients bring large-scale employee-facing programs to life, with messaging tailored for executives, people leaders, and individual contributors.

Key Focus Areas> Talent & Culture (including EVP work)

Employee Value Proposition and other strategy writing follows a three-step approach at Nexus - Articulate, Express, and Refine:

  • Articulate - Synthesize inputs from clients and our strategy team into well-organized pillars, clearly articulated with their nuances and supporting reasons to believe. As an example, EVP Pillars should answer two central questions: Why work here? and Why stay here?
  • Express - Bring those pillars to life with powerful, stylized language
  • Refine - Actively listen and integrate nuanced feedback from stakeholders and participants
> Ad Creative

Develop digital talent attraction concepts for paid social, native, programmatic, and other targeted recruitment advertising - informed by the EVP and aimed at key job families. You'll build creative platforms, ad copy, and post copy, including A/B and multivariate testing.

> Digital & Web Content

Write career-page content that brings the EVP to life with fidelity, creativity, and continuity - helping candidates understand and engage with our clients' opportunities.

Across all three areas, strong digital writing chops and SEO fluency are essential.

What You'll Do
  • Lead or participate in briefing, input, and discovery meetings; originate creative written concepts that respond to client briefs
  • Develop strategic content tailored to different audience segments, job families, regions, and levels of seniority
  • Create attention-getting concepts and clear direction for the design team - selling through your ideas and bringing words and art together into outstanding final work
  • Present outlines, drafts, and works-in-progress; gather client feedback and collaborate with internal teams to move projects forward
  • Partner with Project Managers and Account Managers to keep work on strategy, on vision, and on deadline

What You Bring
  • 2 to 7 years of relevant experience as an intermediate to senior writer
  • Writing experience in Human Resources, Talent & Culture, Purpose & Values, EVP, Leadership, Storytelling, Talent Attraction, or Internal Communications (client-side), and/or demonstrated B2B experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills across long and short formats
  • Strong research skills
  • Digital and SEO fluency
  • Self-direction - excellent time management and organization, able to work independently
  • A collaborative spirit - easy to work with, reliable, and ready to push the envelope with innovative, disruptive work
  • Strong French writing skills for the Quebec market are a significant asset
  • Comfort working remotely - familiarity with MS Teams, video calls, and screen-sharing is a must

This is a fully remote contract role with Nexus - and for the right fit, it can be the start of an ongoing relationship, not a one-off. If you're a strategic writer who wants to do meaningful work with purpose, for great clients alongside a collaborative team, we'd love to hear from you.

It should come as no surprise that these are work-from-home opportunities. Familiarity with MS-Teams and comfort working remotely through video and screensharing is a must!

To Apply

Please submit:

  1. A short self-shot video telling us about your experience and why you'd be a great fit for this role. Applications without this component will not be considered.
  2. Your resume.
  3. A writing sample showcasing recent work in one or more of the focus areas described above - Talent & Culture / EVP, Ad Creative, or Digital & Web Content.

Inclusion & Accessibility

Nexus Communications is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive, accessible workplace. Interviews look different for everyone - if you have any accessibility needs or special requirements, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate.

If submitting a video isn't feasible due to accessibility considerations, please reach out and we'll work with you to arrange an alternative format that allows you to fairly present your experience.
