Job Title: Content Editor (Web Development Team)
Location: Remote, onsite as needed
Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and be eligible for a DoD Secret
Position OverviewThe Content Editor supports the development, maintenance, and optimization of website and web application content in a federal environment. This role ensures all content is accurate, accessible, compliant, and aligned with user experience and agency standards while working closely with developers, designers, and stakeholders.
Core Skills- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Web content management using CMS platforms (e.g., Drupal, SharePoint, WordPress)
- Knowledge of plain language standards and content readability best practices
- Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS for content formatting
- SEO and content optimization techniques
- Content auditing, version control, and governance
- Collaboration with UI/UX and development teams
- Attention to detail and quality assurance
Requirements- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in web content editing, digital content management, or related role
- Experience managing and publishing content within a Content Management System (CMS)
- Experience supporting website development or digital platforms
- Ability to ensure content compliance with federal standards (Section 508, Plain Writing Act)
- Experience conducting content reviews, audits, and updates
- Ability to translate technical or policy content into user-friendly language
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
Education- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
Preferred (Nice to Have)- Experience supporting DoD or Federal Government programs
- Active security clearance
- Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Experience with content migration or website redesign efforts
- Understanding of UX/UI principles
