Job description

We're seeking an AI Policy Specialist, Content S&P to support the development and implementation of thoughtful generative AI guidelines for content and product experiences. In this role, you'll collaborate with an exceptional cross-functional team to uphold content quality, reduce risk and support a safe, inspiring experience for people on Pinterest, impacting millions of dreamers on one of the world's largest user-generated content platforms. What you'll do:

  • Define, draft, align, and implement guidelines for generative AI content and new and existing AI-driven products-to ensure we balance user and business needs within an evolving regulatory and competitive environment.
  • Support the review of generative AI use cases, document policy decisions and help maintain clear guidance for internal partners.
  • Track policy questions, escalations and trends to identify opportunities to improve guidance and workflows.
  • Work closely with product and engineering partners to translate emerging capabilities and risks into guidelines and scalable workflows. 
  • Assess generative AI models and systems to ensure they meet the bar for content quality and appropriateness that uphold Pinterest's values. 
  • Create, measure, and communicate our progress against Editorial Standards & Practices, confidently translating strategy and insights for executive audiences and company-wide forums.
  • Use AI to synthesize information from policy inputs, product updates and enforcement trends so teams can make decisions faster.

What we're looking for:

  • 3+ years of experience in content policy, content standards, trust and safety or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Marketing or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to support the development and implementation of generative AI content guidelines within defined workstreams, with guidance from senior leaders and close cross-functional partnership.
  • Familiarity with industry trends and legal developments related to generative AI and LLMs to identify risks, evaluate tradeoffs and support safe, thoughtful guideline development.
  • Understanding of how generative AI content and product guidelines support a safe and innovative platform for users with continuous evaluation and iteration. 
  • Skill in critically evaluating and verifying AI-assisted work for accuracy, completeness and bias before sharing recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate strategies and plans clearly and persuasively to executive audiences and the broader company, tailoring messaging for diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in building trusted cross-functional relationships with technical teams, Policy, Legal and other partners to support shared priorities and effective execution.
  • High integrity and ownership in using AI, including protecting sensitive information, avoiding over-reliance and remaining accountable for the final work product.

  • We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. What this looks like day-to-day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role.
