Job description

Job Brief
Our team is looking for a motivated VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) Field Engineer to support the use of digital construction tools across active projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field personnel to ensure models align with actual field conditions and are usable for coordination, planning, and execution.
The VDC Field Engineer is responsible for verifying model accuracy, documenting existing conditions, and identifying potential conflicts to support successful project delivery. This role requires strong communication and attention to detail, as you will assist project teams in navigating models and applying VDC tools in a practical, field-focused manner.
This is an entry-level position with a clear path for growth into more advanced VDC coordination and project support responsibilities. To succeed, you must be willing to work in the field, collaborate with project teams, and support MEB's core values with a strong focus on quality, health, and safety.
If you are interested in construction technology and want to be part of improving how projects are planned and executed, this role provides hands-on experience and development opportunities.
Core Areas of Responsibility
  • Review project models and drawings to identify potential conflicts, discrepancies, and constructability concerns.
  • Verify model accuracy against field conditions and contract documents throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist project teams in navigating and using models for coordination, planning, and field execution.
  • Support coordination efforts by tracking, documenting, and communicating model-related issues.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and assist with follow-up and issue resolution.
  • Document existing conditions at project start and throughout construction using photos, drones, and/or scanning tools.
  • Assist with reality capture efforts, including drone flights and laser scanning, as applicable.
  • Organize and maintain model files, coordination logs, and project documentation.
  • Support deployment and use of models on field devices (tablets, etc.).
  • Work closely with Superintendents and Project Engineers to ensure models reflect actual field conditions and support construction activities.

Skills You Possess
  • Completion of a 2 year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or equivalent combination of technical/military training and/or experience.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and field operations.
  • Exposure to Navisworks, Revit, or other BIM/VDC tools (coursework or internship experience acceptable).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and potential issues.
  • Effective communication skills with both field and office teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and support multiple projects.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow within VDC and construction operations.
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel to project sites throughout the Hampton Roads area.

Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans.
