Remote Construction Design information

What is remote construction design?

Remote construction design refers to the process of creating architectural plans, structural drawings, and other design documents for construction projects without being physically present at the job site. Utilizing digital tools such as CAD software, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and cloud-based collaboration platforms, designers and engineers can work from virtually anywhere. This approach enhances flexibility, reduces travel costs, and allows teams to access specialized talent regardless of location. Remote construction design is especially useful for firms managing projects across multiple locations or needing to quickly adapt to changing work environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote construction designer?

To thrive as a Remote Construction Designer, you need strong skills in architectural design, construction principles, and proficiency with drafting, typically supported by a degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field. Expertise in CAD software (such as AutoCAD or Revit), Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems, and remote collaboration platforms is essential. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for remote teamwork and project management. These skills ensure accurate design delivery, seamless virtual coordination, and successful project outcomes in a remote work environment.

How does a remote construction design professional collaborate effectively with on-site teams and stakeholders?

Remote construction design professionals typically use digital collaboration tools, such as BIM software, video conferencing, and project management platforms, to stay connected with on-site teams, contractors, and clients. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation are essential to ensure that design intent is maintained and any issues are addressed promptly. While remote work offers flexibility, it also requires strong communication skills and proactive coordination to overcome the lack of face-to-face interaction and ensure project milestones are met.

Build What Keeps the World Running

At 2NSystems, redundancy isn’t just a concept—it’s what we deliver every day. We design and implement mission-critical power infrastructure for data centers, healthcare facilities, and other high-availability environments where downtime is not an option.

We’re looking for a hands-on Electrical Construction Project Manager with a strong background in the electrical trade—someone who understands the field and is ready to lead complex projects from start to finish.

If you’ve come up through the ranks as a Journeyman or Master Electrician and moved into project management, this is an opportunity to take ownership of high-impact projects across the country.

What You’ll Do

You’ll play a critical role in delivering power solutions that keep essential systems running. This is not a desk-only role—you’ll be involved from initial assessment through final commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site assessments, load studies, and power needs analysis
  • Design practical electrical solutions, including redundancy configurations (N, N+1, 2N)
  • Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for critical power systems
  • Lead projects from pre-construction through execution and closeout
  • Manage schedules, budgets, risks, and resources
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and vendors
  • Oversee field teams and subcontractors to ensure quality and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to NEC, OSHA, and mission-critical standards
  • Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Track costs, manage margins, and deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Lead site meetings, safety reviews, and provide project updates
  • Mentor team members and promote a strong safety-first culture

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who combines real-world electrical experience with strong project leadership.

Required:

  • 7+ years of combined experience as an electrician and project manager
  • Background working with an electrical contractor on commercial or industrial projects
  • Hands-on experience with UPS systems, generators, and critical power infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Proven ability to manage projects ranging from $500K to multi-million dollars
  • Experience with tools like Procore, Bluebeam, or similar
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Master Electrician license
  • PMP or formal project management training
  • Experience in data centers, healthcare, or mission-critical environments
  • Familiarity with BIM and commissioning processes

Why 2NSystems?

This is more than a project management role—you’ll be part of a team delivering solutions where failure is not an option.

We offer:

  • Competitive Salary + Performance Bonus
  • Medical Coverage: 100% of employee premium for base plan
  • Dental & Vision: 50% company-paid
  • 401(k) with up to 4% match
  • 3 Weeks PTO + 9 Holidays + Birthday PTO
  • Company-paid Life Insurance (2x salary)
  • Telehealth services covered by the company
  • Opportunities to grow in the rapidly expanding critical power industry
