What is remote construction data analytics?

Remote construction data analytics involves collecting, processing, and analyzing data from construction projects without being physically present on-site. Professionals in this field use digital tools and software to monitor project progress, track equipment and materials, and identify trends or issues from a distance. This approach helps optimize decision-making, improve project efficiency, and reduce costs by leveraging real-time data and insights. Remote analytics are increasingly important as construction companies adopt more technology-driven methods.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote construction data analytics, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote construction data analytics often encounter challenges such as data inconsistency from multiple sources, limited real-time access to on-site information, and effective communication with field teams. To address these, it's important to establish standardized data collection protocols, leverage cloud-based tools for real-time data sharing, and maintain regular virtual meetings with project stakeholders. Building strong relationships with both technical and construction teams also helps ensure that analytics insights are actionable and relevant to on-site operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Construction Data Analytics professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Construction Data Analytics professional, you need a strong background in data analysis, construction management principles, and a relevant degree such as construction engineering, data science, or a related field. Familiarity with analytics tools like Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and construction management systems such as Procore or Autodesk BIM 360 is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail are soft skills that help translate complex data insights to project stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate, actionable analytics that drive efficiency, cost savings, and informed decision-making in construction projects.

The Role: Data Center Quality Site Lead

As a Data Center Quality Site Lead, you will oversee site-level quality execution for mission-critical construction projects. This role exists to ensure projects meet Switch quality standards from equipment delivery through commissioning and operational turnover.

You will work closely with construction teams, contractors, commissioning partners, and Operations to identify risks early, drive corrective actions, and maintain consistent quality across all project phases.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead execution of site-level quality programs for assigned projects

  • Conduct site walks, inspections, and audits to verify quality and compliance

  • Review construction drawings, submittals, turnover packages, and quality documentation

  • Coordinate contractors, third-party quality resources, and vendors

  • Track quality issues, drive corrective actions, and verify resolution

  • Support implementation of project-specific testing and quality standards

  • Partner with construction, commissioning, and operations teams to maintain quality expectations

  • Support factory witness testing and vendor quality reviews when required

  • Maintain quality documentation and reporting within Cx Alloy and related systems

  • Support development of Initial Verification Checklists and Pre-Functional Testing checklists

  • Monitor compliance with NFPA70E, OSHA requirements, and site safety procedures

  • Provide technical guidance on MEP systems and construction quality practices

  • Identify process improvements that increase consistency and project efficiency

  • Prepare project quality reports and communicate status updates to leadership

  • Mentor team members and support onboarding and training activities

  • Support Operations during commissioning and turnover phases

  • Participate in after-hours or weekend coordination during critical project milestones

What We’re Looking For
  • You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical teams

  • You maintain high standards for quality, safety, and execution

  • You identify risks early and act before issues impact delivery

  • You approach problems with practical, solution-oriented thinking

  • You work effectively across contractors, vendors, and internal teams

  • You stay organized and effective in fast-paced environments

  • You support team success through knowledge sharing and mentorship

  • You operate with accountability and professionalism in mission-critical environments

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • 7+ years of experience in construction, commissioning, operations, or quality management

  • Experience supporting data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects

  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes in construction or operations environments

  • Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, submittals, and turnover documentation

  • Knowledge of MEP systems and commissioning practices

  • Familiarity with NFPA70E, OSHA requirements, and electrical safety procedures

  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and third-party resources

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience using project management and documentation platforms

Preferred:

  • Experience with Cx Alloy, EPMS, SCADA, or BMS systems

  • Construction Quality Manager Certification (CCQM) or similar certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Science, or related field
