Job description

Wisconsin Electric Power, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Power Generation Structural/Civil/Geotechnical Engineer at our Green Bay, Milwaukee, Merrill, Appleton, Necedah, or Wausau, Wisconsin or Iron Mountain, Michigan locations. Additionally, this position can be based at any of our Southeast Wisconsin WEC Energy Group power generation or renewable locations in Wisconsin. 

This position currently offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time regularly spent in the office.
 

This position is part of a job family (Associate Engineer, Engineer, Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer) where experience will be the determining factor.

Job Summary

Join a group of engineers supporting the operation, maintenance, performance and optimization of the Power Generation fleet. This position provides vital support to the various hydro, thermal, and renewable power generation facilities in Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula Michigan. The selected candidate will provide structural, civil, and geotechnical engineering support to facilities in the We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service fleets. 
This position will include regular travel to Power Generation (PG) facilities in north, central and southeastern Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula Michigan. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Complete civil, structural and geotechnical integrity assessments at various power generation assets. Perform failure and root cause analysis and determine and initiate corrective actions.
  • Prepare complex engineering designs, construction and material specifications and project schedules, design and implementation of material and equipment evaluation methods
  • Prepare feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses of proposed projects, and review of third party construction plans.
  • Prepare engineering designs, engineering calculations, and ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards. 
  • Perform equipment testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis. 
  • Participate in long-term budget process for capital projects. Select alternatives for projects based on the results of technical, economic and regulatory analyses.
  • Prepare RFP's, coordinate the evaluation process and provide recommendation.
  • Perform contract administration and construction oversight and construction inspections for small to medium sized projects.
  • Lead project teams on moderately complex assignments.
  • Update drawings and other engineering documentation and maintain corporate records.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Valid driver's license and meet the company's requirements for driving
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with dam safety monitoring and surveillance
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or able to obtain a PE within 2 years

End Date: 08/26/2026 

Pay Range Minimum:  $68,436.68 

Pay Range Maximum:  $156,125.32 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.

This position is eligible for employee referral bonus.
