Vice President, Business Development, APAC (Remote)

Everland, LLC

New York, NY • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

Everland exists to support communities in their efforts to protect their forests and wildlife and improve their livelihoods, resulting in climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation benefiting everyone. We do this by helping communities in the developing world monetize their forest and biodiversity assets by marketing Verified Emissions Reductions (VERs) from the world's most impactful REDD+ projects. This generates critical resources to support conservation activities on the ground. We support conservation projects that go beyond the requirements of REDD+ verification, representing only projects that demonstrate transformative impacts for forest conservation, wildlife protection, and community livelihood development.

We are a values-driven company. We believe that in order to deliver on our purpose and serve our stakeholders, the organization must embody the kind of change we want to help create in the world. We do this through our commitment to practicing a set of core values and personal commitments that reflect the ethos of the company, and which animate our interactions with one another and our stakeholders.

Our Values:
  • Care of the Earth
  • Care for People
  • Fair share
  • Trust
  • Teamwork
  • Integrity

Our Commitments:
  • Give our very best
  • Be of service to all
  • Be reliable: I do what I say I will do
  • Be receptive: Observe non-judgmentally, listen deeply
  • Be transparent, be truthful, be trusting, be trustworthy
  • Be empathetic: Understand deeply the work, needs, interests, and limitations of all of our stakeholders - and ourselves
  • Personal growth: Constant development of skills and knowledge

Everland strives to create a culture of diversity and inclusion for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views, and experiences. We believe that our differences enable us to be a better team - one that makes better decisions, drives innovation, and delivers better business results.  We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and encourage people of any and all backgrounds to apply.

Purpose of Role:
At Everland we are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Vice President, Business Development, APAC to join our rapidly growing international team.  The individual will be part of the Business Development team who are responsible for identifying and pursuing the growth opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and driving long-term value for Everland and our partners.

As the Vice President of Business Development, you will lead our growth in the APAC region, taking charge of developing and executing strategic plans to expand our client base, drive revenue growth, and increase market share within your designated region. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in building and managing a high-performing business development team that supports Everland's mission to end deforestation.

This position is based in Singapore.

Accountabilities:
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with potential buyers of forest carbon offsets.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive regional sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets, adapting to the unique challenges of a small, expanding team.
  • Build and manage a high-performing business development region, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives, while fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Leverage market insights and competitive analysis to identify and capitalize on emerging trends and opportunities within the forest conservation sector.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and finance, to optimize sales processes, messaging, and overall client experience, with a focus on scalability.
  • Act as a key liaison between regional clients and Everland's global leadership team, ensuring effective communication and support for strategic initiatives.
  • Represent Everland at regional conferences, trade shows, and industry events, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and promoting the company's mission and portfolio.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Passion for making a difference for forest conservation, wildlife protection, and community livelihood development.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, environmental studies, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in sales, business development, or a similar role, with a focus on the environmental or sustainability sectors.
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies and manage high-performing teams, particularly within the context of a small, growing organization.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex market dynamics and identify growth opportunities.

What We Offer:
  1. Competitive compensation and benefits package.  Actual compensation is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, and specific work location.
  2. All employees are eligible for performance-based incentive.  In addition, this role is eligible for commissions-based incentive.
  3. Remote work options with flexible hours.
  4. A supportive, collaborative, and mission-driven work culture.
  5. The chance to make a tangible difference in the fight against deforestation and climate change.
