Description & Requirements
Maximus is currently seeking a Project Controls Analyst. This role supports the Federal Civilian portfolio, partnering with Finance, Operations, Project Management, and Contracts to help manage project financial performance. The candidate will support project financial management and project controls activities to ensure accurate financial results and reliable decision support across the portfolio.
This is a remote position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate project financial reporting results for submission to corporate finance and project management.
- Prepare labor and ODCs (Other Direct Charges) for client invoicing and cost reporting; ensure all costs on the invoice are accurate, appropriately supported and reconcile to the accounting system.
- Assist program control staff with ad hoc financial and cost analysis as requested by program management and corporate finance.
- Provide analytical support to program contract staff preparing corporate required reporting of accounts receivable and billed and unbilled reconciliations.
- Track financial status by monitoring variances from forecasts and investigate unusual variances for accuracy.
- Monitor fulfillment expenses closely against forecast assumptions.
- Review incoming vendor invoices for accuracy, provide appropriate codes and monitor payment status.
Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support project financial management and project controls activities, including month-end close activities such as revenue adjustment and accrual.
- Perform forecasting and variance analysis, including Estimate at Completion (EAC/ETC) support, to track project performance against plan and identify drivers.
- Handle project reporting, labor and ODC monitoring.
- Track funding, funding burn and backlog, subcontractor management, invoice review, and contract modification (MOD) tracking.
- Support billing and revenue recognition to ensure costs are billable and revenue is recorded accurately.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills, effectively juggling multiple priorities and working with several program/project managers simultaneously.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- 3-5 years of related experience required.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field. Additional years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify variances, and communicate results clearly.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with Finance, Operations, Contracts, and Project Management stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Forecasting, EAC support, funding tracking, variance analysis, and accrual experience.
- Experience with TM1, Costpoint, or similar reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting government contracts (FFP, T&M, or cost-reimbursable)
