Remote Concrete Block Manufacturing information

What is the difference between Remote Concrete Block Manufacturing vs Remote Masonry Worker?

AspectRemote Concrete Block ManufacturingRemote Masonry Worker
CredentialsBasic construction knowledge, safety certificationsMasonry-specific certifications, safety training
Work EnvironmentManufacturing facilities, remote monitoringConstruction sites, remote supervision
Industry UsageConcrete product production, manufacturing sectorBuilding structures, construction industry

Remote Concrete Block Manufacturing involves overseeing the production of concrete blocks, focusing on manufacturing processes and quality control, often in a factory setting. Remote Masonry Workers perform building and repair tasks on structures, typically on-site. While both roles require safety certifications and construction knowledge, the manufacturing role emphasizes production management, whereas masonry work is hands-on construction.

What is remote concrete block manufacturing?

Remote concrete block manufacturing refers to the process of producing concrete blocks at a facility that can be monitored, managed, or even operated from a distance using digital tools and automation technologies. This allows for greater flexibility, efficiency, and oversight, especially for companies with multiple production sites or those located in remote areas. The use of remote monitoring systems can help track production quality, equipment performance, and inventory in real time, reducing the need for constant on-site supervision. Remote manufacturing can also improve safety and reduce operational costs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote concrete block manufacturing specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Concrete Block Manufacturing, you need a solid understanding of concrete materials, production processes, and quality control standards, often supported by experience in manufacturing or relevant certifications. Familiarity with automated batch systems, industrial machinery, and remote monitoring software is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for coordinating with on-site teams and troubleshooting issues remotely. These competencies ensure efficient production, product quality, and seamless operation across geographically distributed teams.

How does remote coordination work in a concrete block manufacturing team, and what tools are commonly used to ensure smooth production processes?

In remote concrete block manufacturing, team members often coordinate production schedules, inventory tracking, and quality assurance using digital platforms. Communication tools like video conferencing, instant messaging, and project management software (such as Trello or Asana) are frequently used to keep everyone aligned. Remote monitoring systems may also track equipment performance and product quality in real time. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation help ensure that production stays on track, even when the team is not physically present on-site.

Job description

Job Title:
Advanced Nuclear Construction Technical Leader III
Location:
Remote/Home Based
Job Summary and Description:
The Technical Leader III for Advanced Nuclear Construction and Innovation will conduct and lead applied research in complex, high-impact technical areas related to nuclear construction, civil engineering systems, and advanced construction methodologies. This individual will apply deep expertise in structural and civil engineering, construction technologies, and nuclear project execution to support development and deployment of advanced nuclear power plants such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and Microreactors. The role combines strategic technical leadership defining research pathways and industry best practices with execution of near-term research and demonstration activities.
The successful candidate will work across EPRI programs, collaborate closely with internal teams and external members and partners, manage contractors, and deliver high-quality technical products that support civil design and construction development, performance understanding, and regulatory decision-making.
This role will plan, manage, and lead research and development (R&D) projects within the Advanced Nuclear Technology Program. The role will interface directly with EPRI members, advanced nuclear reactor developers, national laboratories, and regulatory stakeholders to identify needs, shape research portfolios, and deliver impactful technical products.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Research and Analysis
  • Build strong research portfolio on engineering methods, design activities, construction technologies, and structural engineering to derisk and deploy new nuclear builds
  • Understanding of nuclear power plants siting, project management, construction execution, procurement and siting.
  • Lead research and technical analysis in advanced nuclear construction, including reinforced concrete structures, steel-concrete composite systems, and modular construction techniques.
  • Develop and evaluate innovative construction methodologies such as precast concrete, modularization, and steel plate composite systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in structural design practices aligned with ACI 349, ASCE 4, and ASCE 43.

Program Execution and Strategic Support
  • Contribute to defining logical next steps in advanced construction research programs, including identifying priorities, sequencing work, and differentiating near-term deliverables from longer-term research needs.
  • Support program planning and execution by defining priorities, coordinating cross-program work, and aligning research with industry needs.
  • Engage with utilities, new nuclear reactor designers, contractors, and regulators to identify construction challenges and develop practical solutions.

Collaboration, Contractors, and External Engagement
  • Work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment and demonstrate flexibility and open mind to support varied work scopes and cross program initiatives.
  • Manage contractors and research activities, including scope development, technical oversight, and deliverable review.
  • Be accountable for scope, schedule, and budget of research projects.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with EPRI members, manufacturers, researchers, and regulators; leverage an existing professional network where possible.

Communication and Technical Writing
  • Produce high-quality technical reports, analyses, and presentations suitable for expert audiences, program members, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicate research methods, assumptions, results, and limitations in written and verbal formats.
  • Participate in technical meetings, workshops, and conferences to share results and exchange insights with the broader nuclear civil engineering and design community.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of experience in civil engineering, nuclear construction, or related R&D.
  • Field construction experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear structural design codes including ACI 349, AISC N690, ASCE 4, and ASCE 43.
  • Experience with advanced construction technologies such as precast concrete, modular construction, and steel plate composite walls.
  • Understanding of concrete materials, reinforced concrete design, and structural performance.
  • Familiarity with nuclear plant siting, geotechnical considerations, and engineering execution practices.
  • Experience with quality assurance, inspection techniques, and nondestructive evaluation methods.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
  • Significant relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • This position may require occasional travel to EPRI members, conferences, and industry partner locations. The successful candidate must be able to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
