Job Summary
Analyzes clinical, business and/or technical processes and problems to formulate and develop recommendations for new and modified systems that meet client and/or internal project requirements. Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements. Gathers and works with departments to prioritize development initiatives and activities. Provides analysis of workflow, recommends solutions, and implements application solutions to meet departmental needs. Translates departmental requests into business functional requirements. Performs financial analysis/business plan/impact assessment. Supports internal customers in such functional areas including, but not limited to, nursing, ancillary departments, Physician practices, patient accounting, medical records, finance, human resources, purchasing, sales, and contracts. Manages system upgrades and other small projects.
Essential Functions
  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
  • Creates and maintains reports to support assigned departments and functionalities from the database that is integrated into assigned supported system.
  • Provides user functionally by coding programs, maintains tables and profiles, builds screens and pathways, and/or develops job run procedures to support customer requirements.
  • Communicates with assigned departments and acts as the "hub" of communication between the department and Prisma Health IS. Investigates, identifies and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems with all clinical operational areas, partnering with the department Director, Managers, and Supervisors of those departments.
  • Directs the preparation and installation of applications, including workflow analysis and flowcharting, design specifications, programming and/or building, testing, training and implementation. Develops a timeline for implementation and ensures that all steps are taken to close all outstanding issues regarding the new implementation.
  • Prepares test scenarios and testing schedules and organizes application integration testing. Monitors and analyzes performance during testing and communicates results to the appropriate project team members tracking and following through with issues to resolution. Accepts final responsibility for testing and debugging before final development.
  • Performs the following with moderate supervision by the I/S Project Manager and/or I/S Sr. I/S Analyst; Participate in Prisma Health disaster recovery planning for assigned applications of support.
  • Complete tasks on time and meet assignment dates. Accurately checks processes and tasks and ensures data integrity for assigned applications, testing to ensure new code does not impact previous version.
  • Optional where appropriate: Create training materials. Incorporate various learning techniques to achieve desired outcomes. Continually assesses curriculum to ensure users are able to pick up the knowledge needed to succeed when using the systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field of study. Master's degree preferred
  • Experience - Two (2) years related experience in a business, computer science or clinical field/setting. Healthcare experience preferred

In Lieu Of
  • In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, an Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field of study and four (4) years of related Information Technology experience in a Business Computer Science, or Clinical field/setting may be considered.
  • In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, High School Diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years related Information Technology experience in a Business, Computer Science, or Clinical field/setting may be considered.

  • CPHIMS - Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • SQL database knowledge preferred
  • Project management software, concepts and tracking skills preferred
  • Working knowledge of health care software applications preferred
  • Perl/Java/XML/Linux/Apache skills preferred
  • HL/7 preferred
