Because teams at TechEmpower are small, ranging between 2 and 6 people, we need developers who can work on every aspect of an application ("full stack" developers). We rely on individual developers to do much of their own software design, with guidance and discussion. If it's yours to build, we want you to build it.

We set a high bar for our hires, because that autonomy arrives early. If you're at the start of your career, you'll get frequent mentoring and design guidance from day one — and real ownership of your own work as soon as you're ready for it, which we expect to be soon.

We're an AI-Forward Company

AI is not a side experiment here. It's part of how we work every day and a growing share of what we build for our clients.

• You'll build AI. Our client work increasingly means LLM-centric applications: assistants, retrieval over private data, document and workflow automation, and agentic tooling. We want developers who are excited to design and ship these systems, not just talk about them.
• You'll build with AI. Our developers use AI coding assistants as a normal part of the job, and we're looking for people who are eager to work that way. Fluency comes with practice. What matters more is the appetite for it, plus a healthy skepticism about what the tools hand back.
• You'll help us figure it out. This field is moving faster than anyone's playbook. We share what we learn, argue about what actually works, and give everyone room to bring new approaches to their projects.

You don't need prior professional AI experience, just real curiosity and an appetite for picking it up as you go.

Fully Remote

This role is 100% remote within the United States. Our teams are small and collaborative, so we ask that you be online for core hours of 10am–2pm Pacific. 

You must already be authorized to work in the United States — we are not able to sponsor visas, now or in the future.

The technologies we use vary with our mix of projects. What follows is the full range across all of our teams — not a checklist for one person. A developer might touch a good portion of it over several years here, and that variety is a large part of the appeal:

• AI Assistants: Cursor, Claude Code, Codex

• AI Engineering: LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, agent frameworks
• Mobile: iOS, Android
• Hosting: AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, etc.), Azure, containerized Linux deployments
• Databases: ORMs (Hibernate, etc.), MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL Server, NoSQL (Redis, MongoDB)
• Big Data: data lakes and lakehouses (S3, Iceberg, Delta Lake), warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), ETL/ELT pipelines (Airflow, dbt), streaming (Kafka), Spark

Nobody here knows all of this, and we don't expect a new hire to arrive with more than a corner of it. We do expect you'll learn more of it every day.

TechEmpower offers a comprehensive 401K plan. Eligibility begins after one year of service. We also believe in sharing our success with employees. Profit sharing is based on the profits earned by the company, and employees may be eligible for additional profit sharing at the end of the year.

We provide the equipment you need to do your job well. Paid time off is typically 10 days per year.
