Job description

Software Test Lead

This is a remote position. Job Title: Software Test Lead Location: Remote Type: Full-Time Active IRS MBI Clearance Required

About the Role: We're looking for a Software Test Lead to join our team and help deliver a major IRS code modernization project. If you enjoy solving problems, working closely with technical teams, and making sure software works flawlessly before it goes live — this role is for you. In this position, you'll take the lead on planning and managing testing efforts from start to finish. You'll turn project requirements into clear test plans, build test environments, and run both manual and automated tests to make sure everything runs smoothly. You'll also track and fix bugs, ensure quality at every stage, and keep stakeholders updated on progress.

What You'll Be Doing: Take ownership of the testing process — from planning and writing test cases to executing them. Lead a team and coordinate testing efforts across different stages of the project. Run manual and automated tests (using tools like Selenium or Cypress) to verify that new code is stable and reliable. Work on backend and API testing — SQL knowledge is a big plus here. Support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) workflows to keep development moving quickly. Track bugs, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with developers to get them resolved. Contribute ideas to improve the testing process and overall software quality. Bonus: experience in non-functional testing (Accessibility, Performance, Security) is highly valued.

What We're Looking For: At least 2+ years of testing experience (more if you don't have a degree). A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience leading testing projects and creating test plans. Strong communication skills — able to explain complex issues clearly to both technical and non-technical people. Experience with automation frameworks, backend/API testing, and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with ICCE and eServices is a big plus. Comfortable using Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
