A Brief Overview
This Network Engineer II position is responsible for the design, acquisition, implementation, configuration, administration, monitoring and inventory of networking and telephony solutions for Stormont Vail Healthcare.
Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer science or engineering. Preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • 4 years Experience with desktop, server, security or network infrastructure. Required


Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of networking (Cisco preferred) and telephony (Cisco preferred). (Required proficiency)


Licenses and Certifications

  • CISCO CCNA Certificate Switch/Route or Voice Certification is preferred.


What you will do

  • Configure, monitor, trouble-shoot, inventory and maintain the Stormont Vail network and telephony systems to insure optimal functionality and up-time are achieved.
  • Develops design proposals, recommendations and justifications for new network and telephony components to enhance functionality and/or reliability.
  • Coordinate the design and implementation of projects to enhance the capabilities of the Stormont networking and telephony environment.
  • Assist with the identification, prioritization and resolution of networking and telephony issues impacting hospital operations.
  • Creates and maintains detailed documentation, diagrams and inventories related to functionality, network connectivity, equipment configurations & testing for all systems.
  • Ability to interact with other teams and individuals in the hospital to enhance, design and build new functionality to aid them in the performance of their job function(s). Understand and adhere to Stormont change management policies.
  • Daily monitoring of the performance of network and telephony systems to insure they are reliable and performing efficiently.
  • Using diagnostic tools, reports and interactions with fellow employees to identify chronic issues related to the hospital's service and develops solutions to resolve these issues.
  • Works with other internal and external teams and individuals to provide new features/functionality to the hospital's networking and telephony environment.
  • Engages with carriers and other vendors to resolve issues and/or enhance system functionality.
  • Works with other internal and external teams and individuals to provide new features/functionality to the hospital's networking and telephony environment.
  • Maintains current on new products and services available within the fields of networking and telephony.
  • Creates/provides End User Training material for new services, features & functionality.
  • Follows operational procedures to assure system stability and availability. Following vendor best-practices for hardware and software configurations.
  • Provides after-hours by participating in on-call rotation for 7 x 24 support.


Travel Requirements

  • 20% Visit remote locations in the Stormont system to implement new equipment and/or trouble-shoot existing infrastructure/equipment.
