Introduction
The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection ( DATCP ) works hard to protect and promote Wisconsin's agricultural industries and consumers. DATCP currently has an opening for a Systems Administrator position within the Division of Management Services, Bureau of Information Technology.
This position is located at the Prairie Oaks State Office Building situated on Madison's southeast side and a beautifully wooded and scenic hilltop venue. Our employees enjoy low-cost parking at the facility and are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.
Remote Work Option: This position may have the ability to work remotely up to 6 days per 2-week pay period! An approved remote work agreement is required before an employee may work remotely. Approval of the employee's remote work agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who work remotely are required to live in Wisconsin.

Position Summary
This is a senior-level IT infrastructure position responsible for the design, administration, security, and lifecycle management of DATCP's mission-critical server, cloud, identity, and digital workforce platforms. This role delivers high-availability infrastructure services that underpin all agency business operations and is a key contributor to DATCP's modernization strategy, including hybrid cloud integration, Microsoft 365 expansion, Zero Trust security alignment, and future-state digital service delivery.
This position provides technical leadership across a broad portfolio of platforms, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, M365 services, CRM, SharePoint, IIS, SQL, Citrix, endpoint management, and enterprise backup/disaster recovery systems. It is responsible for ensuring system reliability, security posture, regulatory compliance readiness, performance optimization, and continuity of agency operations during planned changes as well as unplanned disruptions.

Salary Information
The classification of this position is IS Technical Services Specialist, which is in schedule-range 07-33 with a starting pay of $43.00 up to $47.00 per hour.
This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan at the time of hire.

At DATCP, we strive to deliver efficient and effective programs and services to Wisconsin agriculture, consumers, and businesses. The Department has numerous on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities, unique to each Bureau.
These OJT opportunities include direct experience and practice through collaboration with co-workers/supervisor, peer mentoring, and job-specific training modules.
Conditions of Employment:
DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.
A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.
Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to provide one's own transportation for work purposes, is required.
Occasional travel, including overnights may be required.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:
  • Experience administering Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, including domain controllers, DNS, Group Policy, authentication, and related domain services.
  • Experience administering Windows Server environments and supporting enterprise server infrastructure.
  • Experience administering and integrating Microsoft enterprise platforms including M365, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, SQL Server, and IIS.
  • Experience supporting enterprise networking technologies, including firewalls, load balancing, and WAN/LAN protocols, in secure network environments.
  • Experience using automation, scripting, and endpoint/configuration-management tools such as PowerShell, Intune, MECM, Group Policy.
  • Experience applying Zero Trust and NIST-aligned, or comparable cybersecurity principles to enterprise infrastructure and systems.

In addition to the minimum qualifications above, highly qualified candidates will have the following:
  • Experience administering or supporting Microsoft Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM, or Dynamics 365.
  • Experience administering Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and/or network-connected laboratory or chemistry equipment.
  • Experience administering Citrix environments, including application virtualization and delivery.
  • Experience administering components of the Microsoft System Center suite (beyond endpoint configuration management.)
