Job description

Position Overview

Maricopa Counseling, LLC is actively seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to provide compassionate support and expert therapeutic care to individuals navigating the complex landscape of trauma. This full-time remote position affords you the flexibility to create manageable work hours while focusing on the critical work of helping clients heal from their experiences.

About the Organization

Maricopa Counseling, LLC is dedicated to advancing mental health care for those impacted by trauma. Based in Aurora, Illinois, we specialize in addressing a wide range of trauma-related issues, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our organization prides itself on fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where trauma survivors can begin their journey towards healing.

Work Environment

This position operates within a telehealth-based setting, allowing our counselors to provide services from their own homes or any conducive environment. Telehealth eliminates geographical barriers, enabling us to serve a diverse client base effectively and ensuring that our therapists have access to essential resources. Our remote infrastructure supports continuous collaboration among team members through online platforms, ensuring that integral support and professional development remain at the forefront of our practice.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Maricopa Counseling, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate clients' trauma histories, which aid in uncovering underlying behavioral and emotional challenges.
  • Implementing individualized treatment plans that focus on trauma recovery, incorporating evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions to foster processing of trauma, enhance coping mechanisms, teach life skills, and promote overall mental wellness.
  • Collaborating closely with psychiatrists and healthcare professionals to deliver integrated and comprehensive care tailored to the unique needs of each client.
  • Providing crisis intervention and immediate support during trauma-related emergencies, utilizing your clinical skills to ensure client safety and stabilization.
  • Educating clients and their families about trauma responses, available coping strategies, and community resources to provide additional support outside therapy.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential client documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Actively participating in case consultations, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development programs aimed at advancing trauma-informed practices.
  • Staying updated with the most current research and best practices in trauma therapy to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The clients you will work with are primarily individuals affected by trauma, including those dealing with PTSD and other trauma-related disorders. Your role will involve not just providing therapy, but also creating a supportive space where clients feel safe and recognized. You will engage with a diverse client population, which may include both adults and adolescents, and your therapy approaches will be shaped by their unique backgrounds and experiences.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT in the state of Illinois.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience demonstrating expertise in trauma-related disorders.
  • A solid understanding of trauma-informed care principles, trauma-focused therapies, and resilience-building strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, characterized by a compassionate and non-judgmental demeanor.
  • The ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations to support clients effectively.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and relevant computer applications crucial for effective remote therapy delivery.
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
Preferred Experience

While the minimum requirement is 2 years of post-licensure experience, experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies or working with trauma survivors in various settings will be advantageous. Familiarity with telehealth platforms is a plus, given the remote nature of this role.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of USD 90,000 โ€“ 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, Maricopa Counseling provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • A full healthcare benefits plan covering medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions to support your future.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) including holidays to ensure work-life balance.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage to give you peace of mind.
  • Access to continuing education opportunities and financial support for professional development.
  • Potential for career growth within our trauma-informed practice structure.
  • A supportive and collaborative work environment that values your contributions.
