This full-time position, operating in a remote capacity, offers a unique opportunity to work from the comfort of your home while making a significant impact on the lives of those affected by trauma. Your expertise will guide patients on their journey towards healing and resilience.

About the Organization

Nexus Mental Healthcare is a leading provider of specialized mental health services, dedicated to offering high-quality care for individuals grappling with trauma-related disorders. Based in Oakland, California, we focus on creating a supportive, healing environment for our patients, emphasizing a trauma-informed approach. Our mission is to empower individuals by equipping them with the skills needed for recovery and resilience, promoting mental wellness across diverse communities.

Work Environment

This role is ideal for someone looking to work remotely while contributing to the mission of a community health clinic. Our remote team collaborates closely, ensuring that every therapist feels supported and connected, despite working from different locations. While following a standard Monday to Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, flexibility is sometimes required to accommodate patient needs and crises, upholding our commitment to providing timely and effective care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate the unique trauma histories of patients.
  • Formulate and execute individualized treatment plans that focus specifically on trauma recovery, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
  • Employ therapeutic interventions, particularly Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to address complex trauma and related conditions.
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions to help patients articulate their trauma experiences, cultivate coping strategies, and foster healing.
  • Actively engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with psychiatrists and diverse healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Provide crisis intervention support during critical moments for individuals experiencing trauma-related emergencies.
  • Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, resilience strategies, and navigating available community resources.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in compliance with all legal and ethical guidelines, ensuring clarity and accuracy in patient records.
  • Participate in regular team consultations, case reviews, and ongoing professional development to enhance trauma-informed care practices.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and methods in trauma therapy to continually improve patient outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will predominantly work with individuals dealing with complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and dissociative disorders. Our clients come from various backgrounds, each with unique experiences requiring a personalized approach to therapy. Your role will be crucial in helping these individuals navigate their emotional pain and work towards recovery.

Qualifications
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in California.
  • A strong foundation in trauma-informed care practices and therapy modalities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating a compassionate and non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to function effectively in high-stress situations while maintaining composure and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and general computer applications required for documentation and communication.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience working with trauma-affected populations strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record in delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions effectively.
Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, we ensure our employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Robust healthcare benefits covering medical, dental, and vision needs.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions to help you plan for the future.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) along with holiday pay to promote work-life balance.
  • Professional liability insurance to protect your practice.
  • Opportunities for continuing education and professional development support to advance your career.
Career Growth Opportunities

Nexus Mental Healthcare values the professional growth of our team members and fosters an environment that encourages continuous learning and advancement. With ongoing access to training in trauma-informed techniques and evolving best practices, there are plentiful opportunities for you to expand your skills and potentially take on leadership roles within our organization.
