Position Overview

The Healthy Mind and Wellness Counseling Clinic is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our dynamic team. This full-time, remote position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of children and families across Texas. As an LMFT, you will provide essential in-home and remote therapy services aimed at improving mental health and well-being for children experiencing developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions, either in-home or at our outpatient center, to address various behavioral health challenges.
  • Implement strategies for anger management and coping skills, while focusing on enhancing social skills and reducing high-risk behaviors.
  • Assist both caregivers and youths in improving their decision-making abilities to effectively manage behavioral challenges at home.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including social workers and educational professionals, to devise comprehensive support strategies.
  • Ensure timely submission of all required documentation, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Participate in monthly interdisciplinary meetings, providing insights and recommendations based on client needs and progress.
Patient Population / Client Focus

We are especially interested in candidates who are bilingual, fluent in Spanish or Portuguese, as our patient population includes a significant number of Spanish-speaking families. You will be directly supporting children aged 3-20 who face various challenges related to developmental and intellectual disabilities. This role demands a deep understanding of the sociocultural factors that influence these childrenโ€™s lives, ensuring that treatment is both relevant and effective.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license in the state of Texas is necessary for this role.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week primarily during after-school hours of 4-7 PM; weekend availability is a plus.
  • A valid driverโ€™s license and reliable access to a vehicle for potential in-home visits.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in providing positive behavior support and effective intervention strategies.
  • Previous work with children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic modalities suited for treating various behavioral and emotional challenges.
Compensation and Benefits
