The City of Pasco is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to lead the delivery of critical capital projects across the city. If you have a background in water/wastewater utilities, transportation/traffic, or general civil engineering design, we invite you to bring your expertise to a city that values innovation, service, and professional growth.
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will play a lead role in delivering public works construction projects - including streets, utilities, and treatment facilities - from concept to completion. You'll serve as project engineer, overseeing consultant selection, contract negotiation, and full project delivery. Responsibilities include preparing detailed plans, specifications, estimates, and bid documents, as well as managing project budgets and schedules to ensure cost-effective and timely outcome
  • Excellent Benefits including a sign-on bonus of up to $8,000, dependent on qualifications/experience.
  • Relocation assistance of up to $5,000, for candidates who are not local to the area.

About the Department
The Engineering Division of the City of Pasco has been reorganized into two focus areas:
  • Capital Improvement Program Engineering Division (Public Works Department)
  • Development Review & Long-Range Planning Engineering Division (Community & Economic Development Department)

This position is within the CIP Division, leading key infrastructure efforts to support the city's current and future needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible engineering experience (four years at the professional level)
  • Valid Washington State driver's license
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington upon hire, or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months
Preferred
  • Experience with public works infrastructure, utilities, capital projects, and local government operations

COMPREHENSIVE BENEFITS PACKAGE:
The City offers a full benefits package for the employee and all eligible dependents covered at low premiums including:
  • Medical coverage is available at tiered monthly rates based on plan selection and coverage level. Dental coverage is available at $11.59/month and vision coverage at $6.54/month.
  • Basic life insurance paid for by the City and employee sponsored supplemental life insurance
  • 12 days of vacation during the 1st year of employment and 12 days of sick leave which are available for use upon accrual
  • 10 paid holidays, plus 1 floating holiday each year
  • Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS), which offers a guaranteed monthly benefit once vesting criteria has been met
  • In addition to DRS, employees may also contribute to a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, that offers a pre-tax contribution of 4% from the City
  • Other benefits offered: Comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, Tuition Assistance, Flexible Spending Plan, Long-Term Disability, Aflac, and Flexible Schedule (per department approval)
