CITGO owns and operates three refineries located in Lake Charles, LA.; Lemont, IL.; and Corpus Christi, TX, and wholly and/or jointly owns 38 active terminals, six pipelines and three lubricants blending and packaging plants. Job Summary

This position is on-site at the Lemont Refinery Support Center in Downers Grove, IL.  

The Financial Analyst – Hydrocarbon is responsible for analyzing refinery product movements and preparing daily yield reporting that supports refinery operational and financial performance. This position manages the daily yield import process within RightAngle ETRM system, which interfaces with SAP and directly impacts refinery volumetric accounting and gross margin reporting.

Working closely with Operations, Logistics, Scheduling, and Finance, the analyst validates yield activity, investigates variances, and explains abnormal operating results. The role also supports inventory management by analyzing refinery receipts and shipments, maintaining historical yield records, calculating monthly throughput and unit performance statistics, and ensuring inventory accuracy.

Additional responsibilities include monitoring daily RightAngle actualizations, troubleshooting SAP interface issues, managing internal yield reporting, overseeing KPMG inventory audits, and preparing required EIA filings with the U.S. Department of Energy.

Salary range  $83,000 - $112,000

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in financial analysis, inventory accounting, hydrocarbon accounting, commodity movement accounting, or related business functions. 
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, investigate discrepancies, and resolve complex reconciliation issues independently and accurately.
  • Prioritize duties when given multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ability to efficiently use formulas, pivot tables, data filtering, and basic data analysis functions for reconciliation and reporting tasks.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including operations and back-office functions.  

    Preferred:

    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
    • At least 2 years’ experience with SAP or a similar ERP application.  
    • Preferred experience in refining, petrochemical, energy, commodity trading, logistics, manufacturing, or hydrocarbon accounting environments.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills,including data analysis, reporting, pivot tables, formulas, and the ability to organize and interpret complex datasets.
    • Familiarity with internal controls framework, and regulatory reporting requirements for inventory
    • Experience with RightAngle ETRM, SAP, or similar commodity trading, inventory management, or ERP systems preferred.

       
Job Duties

1. Manage daily refinery yield reconciliation, including investigation of unusual operating activity. Execute yield uploads to RightAngle and SAP, maintain refinery weight balance within established tolerances (99.5%-100.5%, and perform monthly inventory reviews.

2. Monitor and analyze daily actualization activity within RightAngle. Coordinate with schedulers, finance personnel, and business stakeholders regarding uploads, issues, and inquiries. Provide schedulers with month-end actualization support for designated metered products.

3. Troubleshoot system and process issues while driving continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate annual external inventory audits, including tank climb activities, and resolve inventory variances and audit requests.

4. Prepare daily market pricing reports, month-end internal reporting, EIA government filings, required annual training, and departmental support activities. Assist with special projects as assigned.
