What is remote commercial furniture sales?

Remote commercial furniture sales is a job where professionals sell office and commercial furniture, such as desks, chairs, and workstations, to businesses without working from a traditional office or showroom. Salespeople use virtual tools like email, video calls, and online catalogs to connect with clients, present product options, and close sales. This role often requires strong communication skills, an understanding of office design trends, and the ability to manage sales processes online. It can offer flexibility and the opportunity to serve clients nationally or even internationally.

How does a remote commercial furniture sales professional typically collaborate with clients and internal teams?

As a remote commercial furniture sales professional, much of your collaboration with clients and internal teams happens via digital communication tools like video conferencing, email, and CRM platforms. You'll frequently coordinate with designers, project managers, and logistics staff to ensure client requirements are met and projects stay on schedule. Building strong relationships remotely requires proactive communication, timely follow-ups, and clear documentation. While you may occasionally visit client sites, most interactions are virtual, making organization and self-motivation key to success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote commercial furniture sales professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Commercial Furniture Sales professional, you need strong sales acumen, product knowledge, and experience in B2B relationship management, often supported by a background in sales or interior design. Familiarity with CRM software, virtual presentation tools, and digital catalogs is typically required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving abilities distinguish top performers in this role. These skills are essential for building client trust, closing deals remotely, and navigating a competitive, fast-paced market.

  • Represent FUNC at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and industry associations.
  • Travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada to meet with customers, support independent representatives, deliver training, and strengthen key relationships.
  • Provide regular market feedback, sales forecasts, and strategic recommendations to leadership.

  • Demonstrated success developing new business and managing complex customer relationships.
  • An established network of relationships with independent representative firms, commercial furniture dealers, architects, designers, and specification firms, with a proven ability to convert those relationships into business opportunities.
  • Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and customer training skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial furniture, interior solutions, and specification sales is required.
  • Experience within the acoustics industry is considered an asset.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment.
