Description

Superior Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing, Inc. is a trusted statewide provider of skilled trade construction supporting commercial new construction, tenant improvements, and 24/7 emergency services for our clients. The Commercial Electrical Estimator plays a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for tenant improvement and new construction electrical installation projects. ย This individual will analyze plans and specifications, complete material and labor takeoffs, and coordinate with project managers and the internal purchasing department to prepare comprehensive bids.ย 


Work Location Requirement

This position is on-site at the corporate office and is not available as a remote or hybrid role. Candidates must be able to work from the office during standard business hours.


Scope of Responsibilities

  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine scope, bid strategy, and estimate requirements
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical systems, materials, equipment, and labor (e.g., conduit, wire, panels, devices, lighting, switchgear)
  • Prepare accurate, complete, and competitive cost estimates and proposals for commercial electrical construction projects. Typical projects include grocery stores, fitness centers, multi-family residential developments, casinos, private and utility site work, office buildings, tenant improvements, and other commercial facilities ranging from small renovations to large ground-up construction. While the primary focus is commercial work, candidates may also be asked to estimate occasional residential and industrial projects. Ensure estimates align with company standards, industry best practices, and applicable codes and regulations
  • Participate in project meetings and provide estimating input during preconstruction and planning phases
  • Maintain current knowledge of electrical industry trends, material pricing, labor factors, and emerging technologies

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of commercial electrical estimating experience, with a solid understanding of electrical materials and methods of installation
  • Ability to interpret refrigeration, mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and/or structural plans and specifications related to electrical installation
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical materials and methods of installation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, SureCount, Autodesk, Intellibid, and/or EBM preferred
