Job description

FT, 80 hrs/pp, 1.0 FTE; varies as scheduled Remote. (For Washington State Residents Only)


Summary:

The Remote Medical Coder will utilize their expertise, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve coding issues to assure timely and compliant processing of clinic charges and optimized efficient workflow. Responsible for analyzing and assessing the quality of clinical documentation in order to accurately identify and capture all codeable and billable diagnosis that will involve assignments of ICD-10-CM, CPT, Modifiers and HCPCS for Family General Practice,Specialty,OB/GYN clinic settings, and Hospital.  Will also assist with Provider documentation and feedback.

This position performs coding duties remotely while maintaining productivity, quality, and compliance standards. Ability to work independently in a remote environment. 

Education and/or Experience Requirements:      

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in related field and/or Certificate in Medical Coding & Reimbursement Specialist leading to the credentialing by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information management Association (AHIMA) preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience and/or training of medical billing, charge entry, revenue cycle, or coding-related experience in physician clinic, hospital or healthcare setting. Experience in Epic EHR systems and 3M encoder. 

Licensure & Certifications Requirements: 

  • Perferred CPC-A, CPC, COC, CCS-P cerfitications.
  • Non-certified candidates must meet experience requirements and enroll in an approved coding certification program within six (6) months of hire.
  • Obtain preferred certification within 12-18 months of hire.
