Job description

We are currently seeking a senior Mainframe Systems Developer (Cobol/Assembler) for a long term, remote contracting position.  Candidates must live in the United States, have at least 15 years of professional experience, and have at least 10 years of recent hands on experience with Cobol and Assembler.  Candidates will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting enterprise financial applications in a large-scale banking/credit union environment. The position focuses heavily on IBM mainframe technologies and requires deep hands-on expertise in Cobol, Assembler, DB2, CICS, JCL, and batch processing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze business and technical requirements
  • Design and enhance mainframe applications
  • Develop and maintain COBOL and Assembler programs
  • Support batch and online transaction systems
  • Troubleshoot production issues and system failures
  • Conduct testing and code debugging
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Work closely with stakeholders, vendors, operations teams, and business users
  • Support mission-critical financial systems and transaction processing environments  

This is a highly technical role for an experienced enterprise mainframe engineer with strong financial services experience.  Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of recent hands on experience with:
