Job description

Position: Technical Service Representative 
Location: Remote and travel
Salary: $65,000-$95,000 plus bonus
Position Summary
The Technical Service Representative provides technical support and application expertise to customers in the automotive and industrial coatings markets. This role supports product implementation, troubleshooting, application testing, customer training, and technical project management while serving as a key link between customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Technical Support

  • Provide technical support for product application, performance, and process optimization.
  • Investigate and resolve application issues and customer complaints.
  • Support new product introductions and customer implementation activities.
  • Present product solutions and recommendations tailored to customer needs.


Product & Process Development

  • Conduct application trials, testing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with R&D and laboratory teams on product optimization.
  • Monitor industry trends, application technologies, and competitive products.
  • Develop application guidelines and technical recommendations.


Training & Customer Engagement

  • Train customers, painters, and application engineers on coating applications and pretreatment methods.
  • Organize technical workshops and demonstrations.
  • Advise customers on application equipment and best practices.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate reports and technical documentation.
  • Travel to customer locations as needed.
  • Represent the company professionally and support business growth initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in coatings, automotive manufacturing, paint application, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Knowledge of spray equipment, pumps, and application techniques.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to mix paints and operate spray equipment.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to paint products, fumes, and chemicals while following safety procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually.
