The Insights & Intelligence (i2) organization is looking forindividuals to work on fast-paced special projects to support critical business initiatives with executive sponsorship. The right individuals are engineers that havedemonstratedexperiences across data engineering and data science, are deeply curious about how businessesoperate, and enjoys building scalable products.You will work directly with domain product owners to empower the business and its decision-making using data.

This position may be filled in Falls Church, VA (local candidates preferred). However, we may consider a hybrid schedule or a remote/teleworking option (subject to change) to include up to 25% business travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of products for fast-paced special projects.

  • Help shape the evolving data platformwithinCIDO by building reusable components and sharing ideas on architecture and best practices.

  • Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists to translate strategic questions into data products and pipelines.

  • Design, code,test, and deploy production-grade data pipelinesand modelsusing Python/PySparkand SQL within Databricks.

  • Translate business requests into design specifications and requirements to builddata engineering models, structures, and machine learning modelsthat help scale our analytics.

This position may be filled at either Level 3 (Principal level), or Level 4 (Sr. Principal level), depending on the skills, experience, and education level of the candidate based on the below requirements.

Basic Qualifications(for Level 3):

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar STEM related technical discipline with a minimum of 3 years of Data Engineering or Software Development experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar STEM related technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of Data Engineering or Software Development experience is REQUIRED
  • Must have experience with Python and SQL
  • Must have experience with AWS, containerization, and Git

Basic Qualifications(for Level 4):

  • PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar STEM related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of Data Engineering and/or Software Development experience; OR a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar STEM related technical discipline with a minimum of 6 years of Data Engineering or Software Development experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar STEM related technical discipline with a minimum of 8 years of Data Engineering or Software Development experience is REQUIRED
  • Must have experience with Python and SQL
  • Must have experience with AWS, containerization, and Git
  • Experience with Databricks is a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Computer Science with 8 years of Data Engineering experience, using Python/PySparkand SQL within Databricks to builddata engineering and machine learning models
  • Strong experience in deploying production software engineering products or data engineering products
  • Experience in technical business consulting, ability to take customer requests from ambiguity to deployable product
  • Knowledge of domain-driven data ownership concepts
  • Understand the importance of software engineering best practices in data development
  • Proven ability to tackle ambiguous, crossdomain business problems and turn them into concrete data solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to translate technical concepts and data requirements forbusiness partners
  • Secret clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $171,000.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
