POSITION OVERVIEW:
AE Works is seeking a skilled and registered Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll lead the design and management of HVAC systems for a variety of building projects, from new construction to renovations. You'll work closely with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure high-quality deliverables at each stage. You will play a key role in project coordination, offering technical advice and solutions to meet project goals.
LOCATION:
Arlington, VA or Pittsburgh, PA with travel to client and project sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Mechanical Design: Lead the design and construction administration of HVAC systems for building projects, both new construction and renovation, within various market segments. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations while maintaining design efficiency and cost-effectiveness throughout project phases.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, HVAC design, and materials science, which is essential for providing technical leadership and ensuring high-quality outcomes. Bring expertise in industry standards, safety regulations, and emerging technologies crucial for managing complex mechanical systems, optimizing performance, and driving innovation within the team.
  • Client Collaboration: Serve as a primary contact with client and consultants for mechanical engineering design on projects. Work closely with clients to understand their specific needs and requirements. Develop custom mechanical solutions that enhance energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness while meeting necessary regulations and ensuring both functionality and reliability. Travel as needed for on-site collaboration, project assessments, and presentations.
  • Technical Documentation: Lead the development of technical documentation, including system specifications, technical reports and narratives, and construction documents.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality assurance checks and evaluations of both your work and the work the broader team to ensure the systems designed will perform efficiently, safely, and reliably, while also meeting client requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest advancements in mechanical design and building industry regulations. Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance performance and reliability. Mentor and develop the engineering team, championing design standards and fostering professional growth.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Opportunity Development & Client Engagement: Participate in interviews and presentations to support new business opportunities and strengthen client relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:
What's Required:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architectural engineering or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • 5+ years of building industry experience.
  • Licensure: PE license required, with the ability to pursue additional state licenses as needed.
