Specialised Part-Time Consulting Opportunity for CNC and CAM ProfessionalsWe are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced CNC and CAM professionals with advanced Fusion 360 expertise, strong production judgement, and hands-on experience programming multi-axis machining operations.This role supports the development of a high-quality CNC manufacturing evaluation dataset. Selected professionals will create objective grading rubrics for Fusion 360 CAM programs, assess machining strategies against provided CAD models and production constraints, and determine whether proposed toolpaths would be safe, practical, and suitable for real-world production.Key ResponsibilitiesFusion 360 CAM ProgrammingEvaluate CAM programs developed in Autodesk Fusion 360Assess machining strategies against provided CAD models, stock, machine configurations, and toolingReview toolpath selection, sequencing, parameters, and overall machining approachIdentify unsafe, inefficient, or technically inappropriate programming decisionsApply real production experience when determining whether a CAM solution should be approved4-Axis & 5-Axis MachiningReview and evaluate 4-axis and 5-axis CNC toolpathsAssess tool orientation, indexing, simultaneous machining strategies, and machine accessibilityIdentify potential collisions, clearance issues, or problematic machine movementsEvaluate setups for realistic production feasibilityApply multi-axis machining judgement to complex part geometriesCAM Rubric DevelopmentAuthor structured 10-criterion grading rubrics for Fusion 360 CAM programsCreate objective, text-based, and independently verifiable evaluation criteriaDefine standards that distinguish production-ready CAM programs from unsafe or impractical solutionsEnsure criteria reflect real machining requirements rather than purely theoretical correctnessMaintain consistent evaluation standards across different parts and machining contextsToolpath & Process VerificationAssess tooling selection, feeds and speeds, workholding, stock considerations, and machining sequenceReview roughing, finishing, drilling, contouring, and other relevant machining operationsEvaluate collision avoidance, tool reach, machine limits, and setup constraintsIdentify errors that could affect safety, dimensional accuracy, surface finish, or production reliabilityVerify that proposed workflows are realistic for the specified equipment and manufacturing environmentTechnical Reasoning & Quality ReviewWrite clear verification rationale for every rubric criterionReview sample CAM solutions and explain pass/fail outcomesIdentify missing information or assumptions affecting machining feasibilityProvide concise technical reasoning grounded in hands-on manufacturing experienceReview existing evaluation criteria for clarity, objectivity, and technical accuracyIdeal Profile5+ years of professional CAM programming experienceStrong hands-on experience with Autodesk Fusion 360 CAMCurrent access to a Fusion 360 licenceDemonstrated ability to program 4-axis and/or 5-axis CNC toolpathsStrong practical understanding of CNC machining, tooling, workholding, setups, and production constraintsAbility to determine whether a CAM program would run safely and reliably on a real machineExperience interpreting CAD models and translating them into effective machining strategiesStrong understanding of collision avoidance, machine limits, tool accessibility, and process sequencingExcellent written English and ability to explain technical decisions clearlyExperience as a CAM instructor, trainer, or technical educator is advantageousEngagement DetailsPart-time independent contractor engagementFully remote and open globallyFlexible scheduling based on project requirementsCompensation: $110–$165/hourAll project deliverables are text-basedFusion 360 access is required for the engagementProjects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performanceWork must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third partyAbout the PlatformThis opportunity is available through 24-MAG LLC.
