Department Summary: The Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering Center is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer with a desire to work on innovative advanced approaches and technologies to solve our sponsors' most critical technological problems. In this role you will provide architectural and hands-on support to critical customer problems in cloud computing and DevOps as well as software development and architecture. In addition, you will have an opportunity to work in several specialty fields with information technology to include Infrastructure Applications, IaaS, PaaS, Cloud Computing (including OS & Application virtualization), platform migration, server consolidation, utility computing, and grid computing. Roles & Responsibilities: * Lead the identification, analysis, and resolution of infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
* Review existing systems and provide actionable recommendations to sponsors and internal teams for improvement
* Collaborate with development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
* Lead implementation of cloud-based solutions and DevOps practices across projects
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and contribute to project planning and execution Basic Qualifications: * Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Strong experience with one or more commercial cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
* Experience designing and implementing solutions in one or more commercial cloud platforms
* Ability to contribute to system architecture and provide technical direction for cloud-based solutions
* Strong experience implementing and leading cloud-based solutions using DevOps tools (e.g., GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar)
* Strong working knowledge with configuration management, infrastructure-as-code, cloud development frameworks, and build automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar)
* Proven experience with data processing architectures including design and maintenance of data pipelines used for ETL/ELT, streaming, and distributed data processing
* Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker * Troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to lead resolution of complex technical issues and guide others
* Demonstrated experience leading projects, coordinating team efforts, and mentoring engineers
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to influence technical outcomes across teams
* Experience designing and leading implementation of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
* Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#) with the ability to develop and maintain production-quality code
* Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
* Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
