Remote Climate Data Analyst information

What is a remote climate data analyst?

A Remote Climate Data Analyst is a professional who analyzes climate-related data from various sources, such as weather stations, satellites, and environmental sensors, while working remotely. They use statistical and computational tools to interpret data trends, assess environmental impacts, and support climate research or policy decisions. This role often involves creating reports, visualizations, and models to communicate findings to scientists, policymakers, or the public. Remote Climate Data Analysts typically collaborate with teams online and may use specialized software for data analysis, modeling, and geographic information systems (GIS).

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote climate data analyst?

To thrive as a Remote Climate Data Analyst, you need a strong background in environmental science, statistics, and data analysis, often supported by a relevant degree in climatology, meteorology, or data science. Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, GIS software, and experience with climate databases or remote sensing systems is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you interpret complex data and present findings clearly to stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate analysis and actionable insights that inform climate-related decisions and policies.

How do remote climate data analysts typically collaborate with other team members and stakeholders while working off-site?

Remote Climate Data Analysts often collaborate through digital communication tools, such as video conferencing, shared data platforms, and project management software. They work closely with scientists, engineers, and policy experts to interpret climate data and provide actionable insights. Regular virtual meetings, transparent progress tracking, and clear documentation are essential to ensure alignment and effective teamwork. Additionally, analysts may participate in cross-functional projects, requiring them to adapt communication styles and coordinate with colleagues across different time zones.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Engineer based in Netherlands.

This is a hands-on data integration role focused on building and supporting reliable enterprise data pipelines and integration solutions.
You will work extensively with Talend to design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot data workflows across complex environments.
The role combines data engineering, platform administration, database integration, API development, and production support.
You will collaborate with data engineers, platform teams, stakeholders, and external support partners to keep critical data moving securely and efficiently.
There is also a strong focus on data quality, governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
You will have opportunities to apply AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, testing, optimization, monitoring, and documentation.
This position is well suited to an experienced integration professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems in a structured enterprise environment.

Accountabilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise data integration solutions using Talend Data Integration, Talend Studio, and Talend Data Fabric.
  • Build reusable, parameterized, and context-aware Talend jobs, routes, components, and workflows across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Develop scalable ETL/ELT processes for extracting, transforming, validating, reconciling, and loading enterprise data through batch and near-real-time pipelines.
  • Administer and support Talend Management Console, including job scheduling, deployment, orchestration, monitoring, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Talend Remote Engine environments while maintaining reliable integration performance.
  • Monitor data pipelines, investigate failures and data-load issues, resolve production incidents, and provide ongoing support within established service levels.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, transformation logic, validation rules, and reconciliation processes across relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
  • Design and integrate RESTful APIs and support secure data services using Azure API Management and other enterprise integration technologies.
  • Implement data governance practices covering metadata, classification, lineage, quality, reconciliation, and validation.
  • Apply appropriate security and privacy controls, including role-based access, encryption, and data masking, while supporting regulatory and privacy requirements.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, platform administrators, business stakeholders, and vendor support teams to understand requirements and deliver reliable integration solutions.
  • Use AI-assisted tools for code generation, review, optimization, data analysis, testing, pipeline development, monitoring, and technical documentation.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise data integration solutions.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Talend Data Integration, Talend Studio, or Talend Data Fabric.
  • At least 3 years of experience administering and supporting Talend Management Console and Talend Remote Engine.
  • At least 2 years of experience providing production support for enterprise integration environments.
  • At least 4 years of experience working within a mature software development lifecycle.
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills, particularly with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
  • Solid experience with ETL/ELT, data mapping, transformation, reconciliation, validation, and data quality processes.
  • Experience with Talend scheduling, deployment, orchestration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Experience building reusable integration components and supporting batch and near-real-time data pipelines.
  • At least 1 year of experience using AI tools for development, data analysis, automation, testing, optimization, or documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose integration failures and resolve complex data pipeline issues.
  • Experience with business requirements analysis related to data and integration is an advantage, particularly with 6+ years of experience.
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs, with Azure API Management experience considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with message queuing technologies, cloud-based data integration, and enterprise application integrations is desirable.
  • Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, data classification, RBAC, encryption, data masking, and privacy controls is a plus.
  • Experience in government, environmental, healthcare, or other regulated environments is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams, stakeholders, and vendors.
Benefits
  • Opportunity to work on complex enterprise data integration and modernization initiatives.
  • Hands-on exposure to Talend, Azure, APIs, relational databases, cloud integration, and AI-assisted development.
  • Work involving data governance, security, privacy, and regulated enterprise environments.
  • Collaboration with experienced data engineers, platform specialists, business stakeholders, and technology partners.
  • Opportunity to contribute to scalable, secure, and high-impact data solutions.
  • Exposure to modern AI-assisted approaches for software development, testing, optimization, and operational support.
  • Remote working environment with the opportunity to contribute to a distributed technical team.
