This is a full-time position located in one of our 45+ offices across the U.S. or virtually.

This role is intended for a self-driven professional who is motivated by purpose as much as performance. We seek someone who views water resources work as a net good and is energized by the opportunity to help solve real problems with lasting community impact for both public- and private-sector clients. This position offers meaningful responsibility-not just oversight-and is best suited for someone who takes initiative and seeks ownership in leading hydrology and hydraulics studies and associated design efforts. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to technical excellence, clear and effective client communication, reliable project delivery, and the mentorship of junior staff. If you are driven by thoughtful problem-solving, collaboration, and contributing to resilient, well-designed systems, this position provides the space and support to do exactly that.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:

  • Oversee day-to-day management of project teams, with a focus on project delivery, quality, financial performance, and health and safety.
  • Ensure projects are executed to meet client requirements, regulatory standards, and company policies.
  • Lead all phases of the project lifecycle, including cost estimating and proposal preparation, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, staffing, project planning, execution, document preparation and review, and financial management.
  • Demonstrate technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with internal project teams and field personnel, providing technical oversight, and reinforcing health and safety processes and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with clients, partners, subcontractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor, coach, and support staff to promote knowledge transfer and ensure high-quality technical work and deliverables.
  • Plan and execute work in accordance with company and client health and safety requirements.
  • Lead or support technical evaluations, design efforts, permitting, contract document development, and construction procurement support for civil and environmental projects.
  • Plan and execute work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols, demonstrating the company's foundational safety behaviors.
  • Develop technical scopes of work and cost estimates for small- to medium-sized hydrology and hydraulic proposals.
  • Manage hydrologic & hydraulics modeling, analysis, and design deliverables.
  • Perform hydrologic & hydraulic analyses and prepare design calculations and drawings using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Assign and manage technical tasks with an emphasis on quality, efficiency, and schedule and budget adherence.

Skills/Experience
Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in at least one state is required; registration in multiple states or the ability to obtain within a short time frame strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams to deliver projects that meet client objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and financial acumen.
  • Proficient computer literacy skills, including the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Project.
  • Civil and/or environmental engineering experience that spans the entire project lifecycle.
  • Proven experience preparing technical scopes of work and cost estimate preparation.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support clients, projects, and team collaboration.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of related project management, financial management, or task management experience.
  • Construction and/or construction management experience with civil and environmental projects.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER or MSHA 40-Hour Miner training and refresher updates.
  • Experience preparing regulatory permit applications and leading multidisciplinary teams on hydrology and hydraulics design projects.
